I'm trying to nail down a location for vacation this year and looking for some help. Looking for kind of a quiet place, but with a few things do for kids(putt putt, etc.). Anyone been to Amelia Island? Any other recommendations?

Check out Navarre Beach.

ETA: Navarre Family Watersports is just right there on the intercoastal too. The ex and I took her 12 yr old daughter and her friend there for a getaway about 4 years ago and everyone enjoyed the trip.

Amelia island is more for older peeps or those looking for something really slow

Families not so much

Jax Beach has a putt putt place, but this isn't generally a vacation haven

Looks like this might fit the bill. Appreciate all of the suggestions.

I live in Jacksonville, and I'm not sure I'd recommend it as a vacation destination if you're looking for beaches. They just aren't that nice here.

I'd echo the others' suggestion for the Emerald Coast (Panhandle). When we lived in LA when I was a kid, we'd vacation in Navarre Beach before we ended up moving to the area since we loved it so much. Navarre is very quiet and relaxed, with amazing beaches, and there are touristy stuff within a reasonable drive away.

-Make sure you check out Big Kahuna's water park (LOVED it as a kid).

-Gotta go to Juanna's for dinner in Navarre Beach, Not just because it's very good, but also it's about the only restaurant in Navarre Beach (there are plenty of other options over the bridge into Navarre or down the island into Pensacola Beach).

-A drive over to Destin is also definitely worth it to go to the huge outlet malls. There are also a ton of very good touristy stuff in Destin (like a 3 story go kart track).

-If your dates are flexible, I'd check out the schedule for Pensacola Beach as they often have very good festivals and you could plan around that (Also, either Labor Day or Memorial Day, can't remember which, is a gay pride weekend in Pensacola Beach, not sure how you feel about that - don't really care how you feel about it - but it get's pretty packed that weekend, so you might want to avoid for that reason alone)

We stayed in the tower right next to the pier/causeway. Great location. The little grill/bar across the street is a cool little spot. They have volleyball courts and rentals as well.

If you'd rather come over to the Atlantic ocean, St. Simons Island would be a better bet than North Florida. Just a little bit North of us in Georgia, but has better beaches and is more touristy.

That's a possibility. I've been to Jekyll and Tybee, but never St. Simons.
