This surely sucks. All the tourist that will come to the beach only to find out they can't swim.

Glen Burns hates Louisiana

quote:

Health departments issuing NO SWIM ADVISORIES for beaches from Louisiana to Florida Panhandle. Dangerous levels of fecal bacteria. That's another reason to never eat oysters from the Gulf of Mexico! If you are headed to those beaches this weekend. watch for posted signs warning against swimming.

LINK An Atlanta news outlet reported this. He said it was fecal, and flesh eating, which are not the same. It's only a few beaches in Okaloosa, and two in ft walton. I'm not sure how its on one beach and not the one half a mile down, but local health official said it was not an issue. This is not the stuff that took that mans leg in Grand Isle.

results are a week old, and updates should be out tomorrow. From 30A on facebook

The threat is very real. I live just north of Gulf Shores and know a girl who went to the ER last night from this. She went swimming yesterday, cut her foot on a shell, and had multiple holes on the bottom of her foot by yesterday evening. Spent all night in the ER.
