I got caught up in the Southwest fiasco and now have 50% off flight and LUV voucher. I would like to plan a trip in January for my 44th year anniversary but not sure where to go. I am thinking California or New York but am concerned about weather in NYC in January. Will also consider other areas that SW flies. Would like to get ideas from those that have travelled a good bit because I have done few flights for vacation, have only been to Seattle and Orlando. Will be flying from NOLA. TIA

I am considering Nassau, Bahamas. Do you know of better places in Caribbean that Southwest flies. Have been on a few cruises but have not spent much time on any of the islands.

Man my 25th is in January. Was hoping you were my husband looking for ideas but alas he wasn't involved in the SW fiasco. Sigh.

Have fun!

I do not like beach and sand much. I think I may like San Diego or New York more. Do not know if I want to deal with freezing weather in New York but I am leaving it as an option. Trying to keep all options open.

I think I have narrowed it down to NYC, SanDiego or Sacramento, CA. I would really like to see the redwoods but do not know if this is a good time for this in that area.

Southwest goes into Costa Rica now. Good beaches on the Pacific side, maybe two hours from San Jose. Maybe split the time between a beach and something higher and cooler like Arenal or Monteverde. I'd much rather go to Costa Rica than any of the islands.

January is a great month for Costa Rica as it's the beginning of the dry season and there won't be much rain. But it's high season for tourism so book early if you go.
