I'm going to be passing through Memphis with the family. Any reason to stay away that weekend and also please recommend a hotel downtown near Beale

The Peabody is 4 blocks from Beale.

If you want to be closer I think there is a Hampton Inn right near Beale.

I haven't stayed at the Hampton Inn on Beale/near Beale. The Peabody is right near the Doubletree which I've stayed at twice and had no problems.

Also check into the Madison I think ... looked nice just didn't have what we needed availability wise.

eta the Peabody and Doubletree are right across the street from each other right near Autozone Park.

And if you're there for fun, do the tour of Sun Studio and the Gibson Guitar Factory. REALLY enjoyed those and it's my husband who is the musician in the family.

I've stayed at the doubletree downtown multiple times w no problems. There is a Westin like a block from Beale. Courtyard not on Beale but not in a bad area. Do not stay at the Sheraton under any circumstances.

Second Sun Records and the Gibson tour.

Late reply, but I support the suggestions of Peabody/Doubletree. Those are the only two places I've stayed and I've been around 6 times. I probably wouldnt really "shop around" for hotels in Memphis if I were you.

Hampton not in a bad area. Would also add the Stax Studio Tour. Fascinating two hours.
