Come to Papua New Guinea if you're in the area. Great diving in dozens of places. Lots of ship wrecks and planes.

I don't know how touristy it is but Raja Ampat should at least be considered.

I've never been there personally, hopefully some others here have and can give some input.

This sailing crew has several videos with diving footage around Raja Ampat and is what put it on my radar.

Start around 15 minute mark

A word of advice on traveling to Indonesia, fly to your destination using a Hong Kong or Singapore airline. Many, if not most places in Indonesia, are third world and their air carriers are representative this. Poor service, poor training, poor maintenance, poor safety records. The national carrier Garuda recently had a 10 year ban to the US lifted. The records of their regional carriers are very poor. Silk Air, Jetstar, and Tiger are Singapore carriers that are top notch airlines and fly to most tourist destinations in Indonesia. Just advice from someone in the industry.

Go to the Gili islands. Thats the best diving. You can also see komodo dragons on one of the islands. Right next to Bali which is very touristy.

Yep for a serious dive experience go to Raja Ampat. Friends of mine who live here in Indonesia just came back from a 10 day dive trip and raved about it. Pictures looked amazing
