I'm traveling a ton more bc of work than I used to. What do I have to do and what does it all consist of? How long does it last, how much etc. How painless is it?

I know by googling it's $65 and lasts for 5 years, is the interview process painless?

I thought it was $85 for five years. American Express Platinum waived the fee for me. Just google it, follow the links to fill out the form, go to a center, it will only take you about four minutes once in there, receive an email in about two to three weeks. Travel slightly easier.

I'd recommend just pay the $100 and Global Entry... comes with Pre Check and expedited customs entry/exit.

Get approved is pretty painless, trying to get an appointment with these super efficient govt agencies is a different story.

Super easy and worth 10 times that when you fly a lot.

And get an AMEX platinum as mentioned below. Great travel perks and pays for pre check

I second the Global Entry. It comes with the TSA Pre-check and only a few bucks more.

It's pretty painless. You fill out the form online. Wait for pre-approval. Schedule appointment once you get pre-approval. Go to the office and they take your picture and finger print. They asked me one random question that was easy. In and out the office in less than 15 minutes.

If I have Global Entry, and my spouse does not, is she allowed to skip the lines with me? Or is Global Entry only worth it if the parties you are traveling with have it

It is very easy. $85 for the entire 5 year period. I didn't even fill out a form. Went to IdentoGo in Brusly. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Take your passport or birth certificate and your driver's license. You will likely get your number online by checking your status within 3-5 days. You'll get the letter within 2 weeks. Once you have your Known Traveler Number, you will need to input it on your frequent flier program profiles and be sure to enter it when you make your flight reservations.

No, only children can come in on your global entry.

Of course GE isn't worth leaving your wife behind. Good luck with her

I'll also mention I read that with doing GE that precheck may not work immediately and that was my experience.

After a couple flights I've had it every time since.

Same with TSA pre check. If you don't have it you can't coattail on your spouse.

Echoing get Global Entry. The first time you use it you'll understand.

We flew last week and I got to go through pre check with her, and that wasn the case when we flew together a few months ago

My wife and I coming back from Thailand noticed her last leg ticket didn't have Precheck for some reason.

This is right after we just entered the country with little review with Global Entry at O'Hare.

I just had her come with me because the regular line was so long and the TSA guy, after lecturing me, let her cut to the beginning of the regular security lines.

It's not too bad but I recommend just going ahead and applying for global entry

Never heard of Global Entry. Looks like that is the way to go. I'll be flying every month from now on at this new position I was promoted to. This will be worth it's weight in gold. After coming back from Seattle last week I almost missed my flight because I was running behind getting to the airport and I actually still got there 30 mins early but the TSA line was insane and I came close to missing the flight. Then I saw a guy literally walk right up, not have to take his laptop out or shoes/belt, off, no xray, and just walk past the entire line.

I asked him what it was and he said pre-check, but it looks like GE includes that.

Thanks for your help guys

I got global entry in New Orleans, it was ridiculously easy and painless. Has my card within the month and easily had my tsa precheck.

For any flights you've already bought, you just go to the reservation or your account and add known traveler number (which you'll know day it is approved).

Best $100 I ever spent. Laugh all the way through the security line, leave shoes and jackets on, leave laptops and liquid in bag. Also came back from Mexico and hit customs and literally walked right through.

Was extremely easy all they did when I went was ask me to verify the information was correct on the form I filled out. Two weeks later they mailed me my pre check number. Love having it no better feeling then skipping long security lines
