Is it fun?

How does it work?

Everyone I know has been to one loves it. My work group has one booked for later in the year so I will get back to you on how good it is.

We went to our first one last weekend at Rise Haunted house in Tickfaw. I thought it was going to be cheesy and a joke. I was 100% wrong. It was fun as hell. We did the first one and had so much fun we did a second one. We are going to NOLA this weekend with a big group to do another one. I hope it's as fun as the last one.

You pick the room you want to do (basically a theme). Then you go in and have an objective of some sort (like find the vault with the money). You have to find clues along the way to progress you through the room. Kind of like the movie National Treasure. This clue leads to another clue which leads to another clue. It's fun with a group because some of the group can be working on one clue while the other works on another clue. The objective is to get out of the room within the allotted time.

it is fun.

I did one with about 5 other friends.

We escaped with a couple minutes left. I believe you have an hour to get out. There is a "gamemaster" who is watching you the whole time from another room, and will offer clues if you need it.

I've never seen something like this so this will probably be a dumb question. You're just in a single room right? What if you accomplish teh objective (lets' say finding a money vault) without actually doing the clues? Like someone pulls down on a statue's arm within the first minute and accomplishes the goal but didn't actually do all the clues first

usually there are combination locks, keys, etc that have to be found and unlocked in order to finish the "final" objective in the room. It is highly unlikely that you would be able to solve the final puzzle in a room without solving the vast majority of the other puzzles before it.

The ones I've done all had multiple rooms.

At 13th gate, there are multiple rooms. The one we did had 4. There were two rooms where we didn't find clues and I went to work on the combination lock and figured it out and we progressed. We failed by about 10 minutes. I would definitely do it again

Did one in Houston last week. It was my first and I enjoyed it. We got the hardest one with an 18% success rate. Needless to say, we brought that number down a bit.

I cannot get enough escape games. I've done roughly 15 across 6 states and as of this Thursday, 2 countries. My wife and I have one scheduled in Vancouver. It's the first time we are doing a room by ourselves. Room is rated for 2-6 people though so we should be ok.

We did 13th gate, it's fun.
We brought kids which is hard depending on age group and depending on the one you select.
Some can get complicated and are difficult.
If you it once and fail you can always go back to try and finish it.
The better you are at solving puzzle type things the easier it is.

They are definitely a lot of fun. We just did one with a group of 8 in Atlanta. The "experience" was a "hoteL" lobby with 3 "hotel" rooms that were side by side. All 3 rooms exited into the lobby area. The rooms were about the size of a large elevator or maybe 2 smaller elevators combined. We had to divide our group of 8 into 3 small groups with each group going into a room. We had to actually work together via telephone. The middle room had phone lines to the other 2 rooms. The outside rooms could only talk to the middle room. 2 of the 3 groups required a hint to help escape. Once all 3 groups escaped the mini rooms, we had to join together to then escape from the "lobby" by solving a few extra puzzles. We finished with about 4 minutes left.

We did one in Asheville last night.

It was fun. We solved several clues, but ran out of time.

We were only a group of 4. A bigger group of 6 might be better.

I made it too hard at times. The clues are mostly physical. We thought to much about word play and such.

I would do this type of thing again.

Our sunday school class did one as a social night last month and i dreaded it thinking it would be stupid as hell, but we did guys vs girls and it was a great time.

it lasted 60 minutes then you go in a room and they show highlights from hidden cameras to everyone. its a good laugh and very competitive.

Its really fun.
