Got a quick Q for those who have made this trip from the BR area driving.
I've stayed in Birmingham on the way to PF before. My wife would rather us not stay there again.
Should I just keep going and stay in Trussville? Or is there another point somewhere 4-6 hours from Pigeon Forge.

I know this isn't a direct answer to your question, but we drove up to Chattanooga in one day and stayed there to shorten the drive. It worked out well as we were able to hit the tourist stuff there then next day and then take the somewhat easy drive up to PF afterwards.
That trip reminded me why I have pretty much been against anything more than a 6 hour drive.
