I hear the recommendations all of the time to "go left" once in side the parks....honestly, we've never gone to the right to start the day. We've ALWAYS gone to Adventureland first.

I think the explanation of the people going to the right is probably more than likely a mad rush to get to Space Mountain so they have minimal wait moreso than it is an ingrained habit to go to the right.

Yeah, going to main attractions is the major force but the go left theory still works most places. Back when Pirates had 2 lines and no fastpass, the left line was always shorter.

Adventure land at park opening is awesome.

Did a study on this in college with a major department store. Most of your "clearance" items are either in the back of a store or near the end if you walk the circle counter clock-wise. If you go left you can get to the better deals quicker. Watch youtube videos of Black Friday door openings... the majority of the people go right.

I've never thought twice about Disney secrets when I'm there with kids.
It's hard enough just getting through all the rides and experiencing all the parks.

We go every 5 years, that's been how we attack Disney. That way we can have some relaxing vacations the other years.

I just found out about this one today. I've recently heard the term "go away green" mentioned in several different places but hadn't a clue to what it was referring. I finally decided to Google the term:

quote:

Disneyland and Walt Disney World are big on illusion. The masterminds—Disney calls them "Imagineers"—behind the theme parks even invented a paint color that was designed to make things visually disappear. They call it "Go Away Green," and you don't have to run a theme park to take advantage of its mysterious cloaking powers.

I just got back this past Saturday with the family. The biggest thing that I found was to go early then take a break around 2 or 3 and go back to the park that has magic hours that night and close it down. I had a five and nine year old that made the break a must. The cooler temperatures made the park so much nicer. Many people go all day and leave the park around 5 worn out.

Watch the firework show early on your trip and then use that time the following days to do rides. The Snow White mine cart ride went from an 80 minute wait to 15 minute wait. The lines really let up at firework time.

Order beer from the grocery. They deliver to your room. You can get a six pack for the price of one beer on property.

Better than that...use free disney transportation to get to the Boardwalk or Downtown Disney and walk to the Hess Express gas station to buy your beer to keep in your room then use free disney transportation back to your room.

Arrival day without a ticket...head over to Ft Wildernedd for the free campfire with Chip and Dale then stick around for a movie under the stars.

Times vary based on the season but during the summer months the campfire is light at 7:30 (roast marshmellows - either bring your own or they will sell you some), 8pm campfire sing along and meet & greet with chip and dale, 8:40 movie begins.

Alcohol is allowed for the adults just no glass.

I would not necessarily say these are "secrets" but more suggestions...

1) If you are going with kids, the character meals are well worth their cost. Not for the food... the food at most of them sucks. But you get to avoid standing in some of the character lines.

2) If you have a Disney Visa card, there is a special character meet and greet in Epcot that usually has a very short line.

3) Build your day around your fastpasses. If you have a Fastpass for Toy Story, for example, plan to spend time before and after in Pixar Place.

4) Hall of Presidents is a great place to take a short nap.

5) If you are doing the meal plan, there are websites that will tell you how to maximize your snack credits.

Here's a secret: Don't do the meal plan.

We've had a lot of success with the meal plan but we plan it out way in advance and try to max things

You have to do this if you want to eat at some of the best places regardless.

What do you mean here? Because if you're changing your habits in any way to "max out" the plan, they you're playing right into Disney's hands.

This. Even if you do train rides, monorail, Hall of Presidents, getting off your feet during mid day chaos is nice. I build our park schedule around Extra Magic Hours and crowd calendar on FrogTours. Personally, FantasyLand is an absolute no fly zone for me from mid morning until fireworks - Peter Pan has wait times near 1.5 hours, no thanks. Kids aside, we head straight for the back of the park at open unless early EMH warrants FantasyLand - same approach at other parks.

PRO TIP: When scheduling your fastpass+ online, 30 days out (Offsite accommodations) or 60 days out (resort guest), keep in mind that Orlando is an hour ahead of Louisiana. This means you can schedule at 11:00 CDT, 10:00 Mountain, 9:00 Pacific...etc.

That goes for all scheduling. Restaurants being most important. And you can book online an hour earlier than calling. 5:00 AM central.

Hahaha! My patriotism may take a big hit, but The American Adventure at EPCOT is a great nap as well.
