Looking at flying through Atlanta internationally. The domestic connection is 50 minutes layover. Is this enough time?

Coming back internationally the layover is 2 hours. Is this enough time for going though customs?

Sorry if these are stupid questions but have not flown through Atlanta in quite some time.

Should be fine assuming no delays. Even minimal delays and you'll be running though

2 hours is plenty of time to make it through customs

50 minutes is tight but you'll have no problem if your flight is on time

Just make sure you know your arrival and departure gate and study the map if you have to run/train/run to your flight. You can get gate to gate in approximately 10 minutes if you're delayed and know what you're doing.

I'm so paranoid about this stuff for international I don't even do it anymore. Rather have hours of cushion on the front end so I don't miss my trip. Allows you to have options.

Back end I don't GAF.

Absent delays, you won’t have any trouble.

50 is fine for domestic. Delta schedules 38-40 minute connections at ATL all the time and will auto rebook if you miss it (due to delays, not lollygagging).

If you are really paranoid, download the Delta app or find a map of the airport and map it out before you go.

Hell no, even if it's on the way out, as opposed to the way back in.

The international outbound flight will start boarding less than ten minutes after your inbound flight opens the door, and it's most probably in Terminal 7, which is the farthest from where I'm guessing you're landing, the T terminal.

Bad idea. 2 hours should be enough on the way back, especially if you use the the MyTSA app to essentially go through the same customs line that the crew go through.

Thanks. Ended up booking completely different outbound flight with different airline and airport. Still have the 2hours on the return home.

Never heard of the MyTSA app, will check it out.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. 50 domestic is plenty

Read the OP and get back to us. Or don't.

A purely domestic transfer of 50 minutes is fine in ATL.

I wouldn't book a XXX-ATL-International outbound with 50 minutes in ATL, though.

I'm in a similar situation flying into Atlanta from St. Thomas USVI. Have to clear customs and wondering if 1 hour and 39 minutes layover is enough time. I'd have no checked luggage and would be departing from the same terminal. It's either that or a 5+ hour layover. May just roll the dice, opt for the shorter layover, and hope for the best.

Yesh.

I wouldn’t do 50 minutes for international in ATL, but that’s me. I have done 1 hour at Miami, but it was my only option and was going out of the same terminal.

As for return, do you have Global Entry? If so, you have plenty of time. Even if not, that should be enough time. If you are checking a bag, that will take some extra time too.
