Looking for a good spot to stay close to a Metro Station and good restaurants.

Not Georgetown if you're trying to be near the metro.

Alexandria Va. It's a little expensive but worth it. The Hampton Inn in Alexandria is right next to the metro and I highly recommend

Try Clarendon. Cool vibe, some cafes and bars. You can find some Air BNB properties in that area. About a 15 minute Metro ride into DC and easy run to Arlington as well.

If you want to be close to Georgetown, you might try a hotel near Washington Circle in Foggy Bottom
River Inn, Melrose, etc.

When I researched the trip we took in April, decent hotels ran at least $300 a night. We would have needed 2 rooms per night for 4 nights, so do the math. The Air BNB we found in Clarendon ran us $1500 for the week. We ate breakfast and dinner at the house. It was nice to get hammered and not have to worry about getting home.

We stay at the Hilton Garden Inn at M St and 22nd. The rooms were nice and management too. It is a block or two from blue duck tavern and easily walkable to the main Georgetown area, where there are plenty of restaurants and shopping. The metro was fairly nearby, but we enjoy walking. Used uber for late nights.

Slight hijack: I need to get from IAD to Alexandria next week. What's the best way to get there?

There's 2 nice Marriotts in Crystal City that are connected to the Metro Station. Restaurants and shops also beneath both hotels and plenty of other ones close by.

Old Town Alexandria Va. There are several nice hotels within two blocks of the Metro station. You are 20 minutes away from downtown. Plus two trains stop at the King Street station.
If you are arriving at Dulles and have one piece of luggage, then ride the bus to the Reston Station for the silver line.

Old Town VA. King Street station has hotels within walking distance. Also think the free trolley stops there and takes you down to the bars and restaurants on King ST near the river. Also check out Crystal City.

I stayed at the Capital Hilton when I was there and enjoyed it. It's a block from a Metro Station and a stones throw from the White House.
I'd also look in the Dupont Circle area.

Thanks, I actually am staying in Old Town. I will have minimal luggage, so I will check into the route above.
