Saw another poster say recently they’d go to Hawaii for the sole purpose of telling the gov or HI to frick off.

Well me and the wife took it to heart and leave tomorrow out of ATL and return home next Saturday. Anyone been lately? I know the Governor doesn’t want people to come, but I really don’t give a shite about that. Already completed and filled out their forms and got my QR code. Any recs? Will have a rental car.

Edit: staying at Prince Waikiki. Was between there and The Kahala But trip advisor reviews sold me on PW.

Got back from Waikiki in July, it really wasn't bad then as no mask were really enforced except for a few places.

The folks on Reddit would have you believe you’re committing murder because you want to visit hawaii. Unreal.

Just got back from Maui.

Car rentals readily available. Guy at counter asked me which color I wanted when picking up vehicle b/c he had a ton.

Dinner reservations were helpful but not necessary unless you wanted to eat at a popular place at 7pm (which was always the case).

Indoor mask requirements are back.

But, that was it.

Oh, make sure to get a wristband from your airline departing from mainland before departure. You’ll need emailed QR code. United had multiple stands so was easy. Makes life way easier upon landing. You can simply walk thru airport with no hassle when you land.

Awesome! I appreciate that. Not worried about mask indoors at all.

It’s just so funny to read Reddit and people seriously acting like traveling to Hawaii is a crime lol. Glad y’all had a great trip!

Waikiki in July too. It was semi open but nothing like it was pre covid. Beach is open but every restaurant you go to for dinner; I would recommend getting reservations in advanced. Duke's had real long lines each night

Hit Dukes a couple of times without reservations. Once we waited about 5 minutes for breakfast and other like 15 for dinner. Although one time we were going to stop and they had a line of probably 200

No issue with car rentals, reservations, the airport (outside of needing the QR code), crowding or anything at all. Hawai’i governor thinks he’s the only area affected by Delta when it’s worldwide and cases are 1-2% visitors. My vacation was not bothered one iota by the above concerns which I had as well. I made dinner reservations well in advance because of them so can’t speak to finding last minute food but do not cancel or hesitate to take your trip. In fact my car rental prices dropped in half when I casually checked the week of my trip.

Thanks so much brother. We are en route to HNL now and should be on the ground within the next few hours. Looking forward to a great week.

I used Turo to rent a car and plenty of smaller places away from the tourist areas had 0 lines for food

So how did it go? I will be going to Hawaii at the beginning of November for work and am curious how the situation is.

I'm curious as well. Have a family trip planned at end of January for two weeks.

I figured what's going on now might be a tad bit different by then, but I have been trying to keep up with people's experiences so far. Going to Big Island.

We're going on an anniversary trip at the end of October so I was wondering the same thing. My travel agent keeps sending me scary links about vaccine passports and such being required on the Island. I was thinking it would be like here (BR area) and folks following JBE's mandate...

Since you need to show proof of vaccination/negative test just to fly to Hawaii no one will ask you anything once you leave the airport. At the airport they will ask for your QR code from the information you filled out before you landed.

Anyone going to Hawaii (or anywhere for that matter) just needs to stay updated on new guidelines. What's in effect now won't necessarily be in effect in a couple of months. Also, each island can have its own set of rules.

Oahu vaccine passport

Maui vaccine passport
