This is good news, Alaska and Virgin America are the two best domestic airlines in the US. They have merged, but are remaining separate brands for now.

Titty. City. This is huge news to me, but I'm not surprised to see this service. Now I wonder if United will go back to daily on the San Francisco route as they've gone seasonal to San Fran/Los Angeles.

Didn't Alaska already operate in NOLA? To Seattle, right?

Yes, Alaska currently serves MSY-SEA.
This is a new route that will be operated by their partner airline.

Friendly bump/reminder that this service started today. Alaska/Virgin is one of the best domestic airlines.
It's important that new routes from MSY do well so they can continue to get new ones.

Not sure. There wasn't anyone listed on the standby list according to the AS app.
It's a 4.5 hour flight, not sure what connection UA is getting on that in SFO. AS/VX is doing this daily. I think UA is only a few days a week.

No Southwest to Hawaii announcement today? That sucks. I was hoping for that news to drop today.

Virgin America goes away in 2019. Fly them while you still can.

I really don't know what they would stand to gain here. The flights are expensive to operate. I'm sure they get customers begging for them to start HNL, probably for years now. Buy the Hawaiian Island market is saturated enough. However, WN is gonna have to find some new places to fly all these airplanes they have, and continue to get. They are already pulling some Carribean service, and I'd bet more is to follow. Southwest has finally hit a wall, it seems.
