We're taking a short trip in a few weeks. Looking for places to eat that are kid friendly. It has been about 4 years since I've been to The Grand. I'm sure we'll just eat on site one night, but we'll be getting out at least once to hit the outlet malls, so anywhere between Point Clear and Foley would be good. The only places I remember was this sushi place in Fairhope that had lots of old rock memorabilia and was painted red and black inside, and this other place that was a really small older house across from the bay.

Try Big Daddy's Grill. It's a decent fried seafood sort of place, out in the country a ways, but basically between there and Foley, with outdoor seating on the water. It's good for kids.

Big Daddys or Sunset Pointe for seafood
Master Joe's for sushi
Panini Pete's for lunch
Dragonfly Foodbar for Mexican/Asian fusion
Wash House if money is no issue

Yeah I'm going to scratch the last one. School starts back later that week and I'm sure I'll be dropping a chunk on that stuff. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to start checking out menus.

kid friendly restaurants that are really good:

Wintzells on Scenic 98
Sunset Pointe on Fly Creek
Panini Pete's - good lunch spot; get there early and sit inside the courtyard
Old 27 Grill - live music, always see kids there; cold beer

My 8 year old would be fine anywhere. My 3 year old can be a little angel or a holy terror anywhere. It will probably be lunch one day and dinner one night.

So we ended up getting a sitter for the kids. Which meant we could enjoy one of the restaurants at the hotel one night, and the other night we went to Fairhope Brewing and then hit up Pinzone's. Thanks all for the recommendations. We'll definitely be making this an annual trip.

Bump. Headed back in June. Any new spots to try out? Staying longer this time so we'll have more chances to get out. Plus we should have a babysitter at least a couple of nights so ignore the kid friendly part. Definitely going back to Fairhope brewing one night.

Jesse's is absolutely kid friendly. You can request sitting on the bar side. I prefer its atmosphere anyway. I've taken my kids to wash house many times. There are plenty of options for kids to eat.

We always hit up Mary Ann's in the windmill market. Usually someone is playing music on Friday and Saturday afternoons. You can also pick up food and take it to the fairhope brewery. Plenty of games for the kids....and they've got golden tee.

Camellia cafe may be the best food in town and I strongly recommend trying it. If taking kids go a little early (5:30 or so) and you'll be fine.

Ravenite is a pizza joint that serves decent beer.

ETA: I'd honestly avoid eating on the property with the exception of the breakfast buffe
EATA: sage is really good Lebanese food. I'd avoid bone and barrel. Average at best

What kid options does Wash House have? What about Camellia Café? Both are fine dining restaurants. Look there's nothing that says you can't bring your kids to these restaurants but why would you? As OP said, get a sitter and enjoy a nice date night at either one. Take the kids to Wintzells or Shux on the Pier

Last year when I started this thread, we mainly got snack stuff for lunch on the property, or made sandwiches for the kids in the room. The one night we did eat there was great. We'll be adding a night this year, so just looking to get out more without the kids.

This is dead on. I would also add:

- Big Daddy's for a VERY kid friendly place that is on the water (Fish River) and between Point Clear and Foley (if you take Co Rd 32).

- Jesse's is one of the best restaurants on the eastern shore and is on the way to foley via Hwy 98.

- Old 27 is an excellent, kid friendly place, but adults have a good time, as well. They have an outdoor area with someone playing music on the weekends.

- if you are there in a Friday night, go to Windmill Market for dinner. You can order from any of the restaurants in the complex and sit outside and listen to the band. Kids are everywhere on a Friday night. The pizza is excellent here.

- Suxters is on the Fairhope pier. Food can be hit and miss, but it's cool to eat in a restaurant that is on the Fairhope Municipal Pier.

- FYI, the Wash House has been slipping lately. Not sure that I would go there.

Sucks to hear about wash house. I used to not be a fan but my last couple meals were really good. I haven't been in almost a year though

It has been a favorite of mine, as well, but the last couple of meals were not great and the service was so-so.

However, keep in mind that these were mid-week dinners and during the winter, so maybe they didn't have their A-game since it wasn't the busy season.

Don't give up on them, but my last couple of meals were not to the standard that I am used to there.

I would think it would be even better when not crowded. We usually hit the beach when school starts back or other non peak times. This is the first time in years we'll be going in June. But we're going Sunday-Thursday so everything will be mid-week.
