Ok, with the wife and kids, I am looking for speed and simplicity. I'll list my current setup and then what I'm thinking for the Xbox One S and let me know what you all think. Is this possible and is it better than my current setup?

Current setup:
-TV
-Pioneer receiver
-Amazon Fire TV
-Blu Ray player
-Digital OTA antenna that plugs in to my TV

Potential Setup:
-TV
-Pioneer receiver
-Xbox One S (replacing the fire tv AND the blu ray player)
-Digital OTA antenna that now plugs into my xbox one s

Pros:
1) Free up amazon fire tv for another room
2) Eliminate Blu ray player
3) Ability to plug in OTA antenna into xbox one to get live OTA tv

Cons:
Are there any? Other than buying a new gadget.

My questions to you guys though are has anyone used OTA TV through the Xbox and does it suck? Can I not simply connect my xbox to my receiver just like any other device? Also, can the Xbox One S be used as somewhat of a DVR with it's internal HD for OTA TV?
Looking for suggestions on this, thanks.

I forgot to mention that I currently have a harmony remote and while it's nice, it gets out of sync at times. With my kids + wife, this is a pain in the arse to have to listen to them gripe about it and when it doesn't work, I have to resolve it.

Would just simply want something that works ALL the time when 1 remote is used.

Looks good. I'd get the media remote for the xbox too. Having to use/turn on the gaming controller is a pain for media. The S has HDMI passthrough, right? I have the Apple TV plugged into my One.

Ok, interesting. How does that work? In the sense of can you access appletv FROM the Xbox or do you have to swap inputs, etc?

Is that the best remote to get? I've been wondering.

Im also curious if they'll have like an Echo-type mic/receiver since they're phasing out the Kinect.

Hopefully, the one s is better than the one at streaming.

I was using the Xbox one for all my streaming and b switched to the fire tv.

Don't know what apps you are using, but for the me there was a noticeable difference between slingtv, hulu, and netflix on the two machines.

The fire tv is a much better streaming device than the Xbox.

It's not, the One S is still very poor overall. Reviews were not kind, still extremely laggy/slow navigating the UI and apps.

I have never had one issue with streaming on the XBone.

1) is there a remote that can control the xbox + amazon fire tv through the xbox? There doesn't appear to be one.

2) Does the Xbox have any kind of DVR functionality with using the OTA usb tv tuner? Appears that's a no here too.

3) Is there anything that's a good "all in one" that can play DVDs, OTA TV and stream the normal Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime content?!?

Yes, the Apple TV basically appears as an app on the Xbox One. The HDMI pass through is really supposed to be used for cable boxes. I have a Kinect that I use almost exclusively for On/Off voice commands (and a little volume up/down). When I tell the Xbox to turn on, I have it set to auto launch the TV app (my Apple TV). Basically this allows me to never have to switch inputs.

It was kind of open ended question. I didn't know if there was maybe another universal remote that could handle the Xbox and other peripherals.

Buy a PS4 or a device capable of running PS Vue.

One more con of the S. It does not bitstream audio. If you plan to upgrade your home theater to Atmos you will need a BD player to bitstream audio.

Re-igniting this thread for a few more questions.

1) Does the Xbox One actually record shows through the digital antenna? It appears that it only stores up to 30 mins on 1 channel for pause/rewind, correct?
1a) Even if it just buffers for 30 mins, how much internal storage does that eat up? Should I buy the 1TB version for the buffering or does the 500gb version work just fine for buffering?

2) kballa6 mentioned that the Xbox One S does not bitstream audio. Can someone explain further?

3) I have a Harmony Remote + Hub. I currently have an activity for "Start FireTV" where it starts my receiver + TV + Fire TV. How does something like that work if my FireTV is connected to the Xbox One S?

I'm thinking about working backwards on my upgrading and start with an Xbox One S, then a 4k receiver + 4k TV. My dilemma is that I just don't game a lot but looking for the Xbox One S to be more of a Media Center type device.

Klark, do you know any of the answers to my questions above? You appear to be an Xbox'er. Any thoughts?

Is it weird that I read all of your post in Krieger's voice?
