I for some reason decided to update my system yesterday from 8.1 to 10. Started the update before we went out for dinner and when I got back it looked to be finished and was at the login screen. Logged in and it rebooted the system and I am now getting the blue screens saying "we'll be ready soon" etc. It kept doing this all night and still hasn't finished. Any ideas how to get this fixed??

It does take a while, and if you're just now doing it then there are updates to the update that it'll also be doing; however, if you're stuck for more than a few hours with no change then just restart your computer. I know it says not to, but that solves the problem for most people.

Do yourself a favor and put the ISO on a thumb drive and do a fresh install. When I updated from 7 I had all kinds of problems, with a fresh install it's been perfect. Windows has also made it super easy, if you just google windows 10 fresh install it will walk you through the steps. Granted I'm running an SSD so it only took me like 15 minutes.

I had to reverse my update. Once 10 booted, my wireless didn't work any more.

So I don't plan on upgrading.

I had several things not work after I updated. All I had to do was update the drivers.

What a lot of people don't realize is that 10 will have several updates to install AFTER the big upgrade. These are the vital driver updates for your hardware.

I can't even get to the screen that allows me to do anything to the system. The "Let's get started" process just keeps going and going and going

My company is still using windows 7 and I've been on our IT guy to update our machines to 10. He says it's still not stable for a business network. Any truth to this or is he just full of shite?

FOS. While I would never upgrade an existing OS installation (say from 7 to 10), I have been running clean installs of Windows 10 at work for almost 15 months. Granted, I started with Insider Ring versions for the first year, Windows 10 has been as stable as 7 just about since the first release I used. I completely understand why IT departments do not rush into new OS versions but Win 10, when loaded cleanly, is the best OS that Microsoft has produced. Win 10 is, in fact, ready for corporate deployment assuming that issues like legacy app compatibility have been addressed.

The IT guy at our office thinks the same thing. Although he is going to delay updating for a long time so he doesn't have to update the database
