was at best buy deciding on a future purchase and the sound is absolutely shite on most tvs, can barely hear it even when its all the way to 100%. is this just to push sound bars or are is their no where to put speakers in the slim tvs now

Maybe you're getting old...

But in all seriousness, I don't think you can really gauge sound quality in a big place like Best Buy. The acoustics in there are terrible, there's noise all over the place and display TVs don't typically have the best connectors.

How do you plan on putting a big speaker in a 2" deep TV? That's why they sound bad

Because TVs are so thin these days. That's the tradeoff.

Have you see the size of TVs?

No bezel. Super thin. Very little room for quality speakers.

Also, companies have found that sound bars are a new way to earn a quick buck.

Speaker is usually in the back, plus to push sound bars.

Turn the TV around so speakers in front. Mount mirror on wall to view the screen. Profit

Sound bars are 2" deep and sound fine. Seems like they just want to scam people out of more cash

Most tvs are now part of entertainment centers where the audio is handled by a receiver.

Because they are made to a price point. You want it cheap as possible, this is what you get. Almost no one shops for quality anymore.

Huh? What's the problem? Many have built-in subwoofers.

Probably no space in the cabinet - plus they're skimping on everything except the display and, maybe, the processor because modern sales on television are almost 100% price driven.

I don't miss the old cabinet tv's that were themselves a piece of furniture. Nothing like the old Zenith.

Just got a new 65" Samsung and the sound is legit. Has an amplify setting that really kicks. Listening to Pandora on it and was really surprised how loud it got.

Huge difference between loud sound and quality sound.
