What is Steam and how does it work?

I wanted to play GTA without actually going to the store. I'm in La Grange, TX for the summer and there isn't a place nearby I could get a hard copy. I came across Steam but I wanted some insight before I made the purchase.

Will it require an external controller or can I just use my keyboard?

You can use the normal controls just like if you bought a hard copy. Steam is just an easy way to buy and download games.

You don't know what Steam is, but you want to buy GTA 5 for pc? Do you have a computer that is actually capable of running it? I'm not trying to sound like an a-hole, really just trying to keep you from throwing money away. What's your computer specs?

It's an Acer Aspire. And they have the GTA trilogy pack for like 7 bucks. Couldn't pass it up lol. I have GTAV on my PS4 but I don't have my system with me. Suffering from GTA withdrawal I guess .

I'm actually looking to purchase a new p.c. Any recommendations? Something in the $500 - $800 price range.
