Will it be necessary to preorder this phone if I want it on launch day or is it something I can walk into a store on launch day and buy?

I will be in Portland for work the day it comes out, and Portland has no sales tax, so I was hoping I could just walk into an AT&T store that day and buy it so I can save the $85 of sales tax.

However I won't be in Portland until 4 days before it comes out, then so I wouldn't be able to preorder it until then, so I was wondering if that would be too late.

Same thing. I was looking to pre-order with Verizon and I see my charges are all from the "Tax & Fees" section of the invoice, and I'm not sure at all where $66.96 even comes from, so I didn't pull the trigger.

Also, supposedly there are potential deals with Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with a pre-order, and I think AT&T actually has a good deal on the table of a Galaxy Gear 2, or a 256GB memory slot.

I can't figure if Verizon is doing that or not. Best buy has an offer with verizon that allows you to receive a Galaxy Gear, but thats with a 2 year contract...BUT it doesn't say whether you renew the contract or you're a completely new customer.

ETA: Check out Best Buy for good deals.

Hopefully someone will weigh in soon, so we can capitalize on the pre-order deals IF the deals are legitimate and to be taken at face-value.

Hey tigertthetooth, I just called an AT&T store, the rep on the phone told me that you should be able to walk into a store the day it comes out and buy it, it should be in stock. She said you might as well preorder just to be safe, but if you are unable to, chances are good that you will still be able to buy it.

She said preorders are really only necessary for new iPhones.

Thanks, I was sort of thinking that might be the case.

Samsung currently offering free Fit2 OR 256GB SD CARD with a purchase of the note 7. Doesn't matter where you buy.

Last year when I got my note 5, they had some awesome deals. There was a gift pack that they had (wireless charger, headphones and battery pack), the same time Best buy was giving away a free 32" TV and a $250 gift card.

This was in November,so I'd wait

Wish I could. My LG G3 crapped out on me when playing Pokemon Go a few weeks ago, and I went to go buy the S7 Edge when the guy at the AT&T store told me to wait for the Note 7.

I have been using my old Galaxy S3 for the past few weeks and its barely chugging along. TD barely even loads on it. It makes me sad that 4 years ago the Galaxy S3 was the top phone on the market.

People that buy Samsung Notes are like the people driving big arse trucks who park backwards in every parking space.

Other than the iris scanner, the s7 edge is the better phone due to no 6gb of ram and no 4000 mah battery with the note.

I thought the narrative from the Android crowd was that Samsung phones were garbage?

I like the Note lines of phones and would expect the 7 to be very popular. I'm waiting for the official specs on the iPhone 7 before I decide on my next purchase though.

My Note 5 is still a beast. Not showing any signs of it's age.

I upgrade every 2 years so I still have the Note 4. It's doing pretty good except for a sensor that acts up on the camera from time to time. I was eagerly awaiting the next Note though.

So your analogy is this phone is big and so is this truck? Any other parallels?

Does the s7 edge have a stylus?

It's the new system they have now. Your costs for texting, data, calling etc. all go down, but the service providers are making you deal with the cost of the phone 100%.

I don't think all plans are like this though.
