What are the pros and cons of the Android TV Box?
Pro is a quad processor and a bunch of on board memory.

Cons- Cost a little more

For those with buffering issues, there are some fixes

I had to change some memory cache size settings and it seemed to help

Mine is hard wired to my router so my issues were never really too bad

You can google how to apply the settings. It's not terribly hard.

What speed Internet do you have and how good is your signal to the firestick because mine doesn't buffer

Signal is good getting about 25-30 MB/s over wifi. Only real problems are with Kodi and the cache fills up. Issues are rare with native apps like Netflix and Amazon Video. The stick only has 1 floor and 1 wall between it and the router.

Other than the Shield, are any of them better than the 4K Fire TV (Quad Core and 2GB RAM)?

OK, here's my short review of this thing.

First off, I had a Firestick and have a Roku. This thing can do a little more than either device, but the UI isn't as polished as either and it takes a little longer to set up(outside of side loading things on Firestick). It comes with a launcher made for a TV and and an older version of Kodi that works fine pre-installed. I didn't even bother to update Kodi because I don't use it much.

Every thing works, but I've noticed that audio can get out of sync sometimes while streaming through the DirectTV app, but I couldn't get sideloaded Direct TV to even work on the Firestick and Roku can't even get it. The performance isn't exactly fast, but I don't find it laggy either. Its slower than Roku and about the same as Firestick IMO. The box does have more gaming options than the other two I have been comparing it to, but it won't be running any high end android games. I'm not a gamer, but time killers like Angry birds worked fine with the air mouse and I even played the desktop version of agario through the browser.

I didn't purchase an air mouse initially and only used the regular remote at first. It works but it takes some getting used to. It has some quirks where you have to switch between mouse and scroll mode pretty often to do some things. Typing is also very slow with the included remote. I ended up getting a keyboard/air mouse combo and it also takes some getting used to also, but overall it's a much better experience than the included remote.

I just got these in and hooked them up, and it runs so much faster than the fire tv box I had, and using the keyboard instead of the fire remote is a much better user experience. I would recommend this box to anyone looking for kodi, the box actually came with kodi and all the add-ons installed already.
