What can I use instead of connecting laptop to TV. Would like something I can just leave connected to TV. Roku? Amazon Fire Stick? etc? TIA

Unless you are broke, don't be cheap and get a stick of any kind. Get the better processor and more ram with the Roku, Fire TV or Apple TV.

Although I have no experience with the ROKU or Apple. Fire TV and Kodi works great.

XBMC was never ready for prime time. The name change didn't help.

I use it on my Sony Androidtv.
I didn't think you could put it on a Roku.

2nd Gen fire tvs will have apps that only go to 2nd gen. CBS All-Access for example is only on 2nd gen.

I'm a huge Big Brother fan and not having that on my fire stick pisses me off.

I'm tired of my Fire Stick buffering all the time and want to have access on a second TV anyway. Has anyone actually used the Nvidia Shield and is it worth the price?

Just a point of clarification, but having a smart TV versus a non-smart TV here makes no difference...you'd still need an external player like those mentioned above (not sure about Roku). All you need is an HDMI input.

What speed Internet do you have and how good is your signal to the firestick because mine doesn't buffer

my android tv never buffers on wifi, but it's 7 feet from the router.

the roku stick and fire stick i have that are probably 30 feet with some walls in between rarely buffer, but occasionally do.

If you're going to rely on the internet for your tv, you might as well get your lazy arse in the attic and drop some ethernet lines to your tv's.

Will that work for the Fire Stick?

What are the pros and cons of the Android TV Box?
