For those that do it, why do you do it? Also, what other privacy practices do you follow?

I put tape on my laptop, but only because it would glare in my eye every afternoon. If some CIA idiot wants to watch me walk around in my underwear scratching my hairy beer gut, they can let me know and I'll take it off.

Postage stamp over mine.

Can't have a dark web'r recording me while I'm researching porn. Then blackmail me by threatening to show my FB friends/family.

I'd pay too. My grandmother is on there. And my super christian side of the family.
Holy cow would I pay.

On the surface, that sounds a little ridiculous. However, if there's a non-zero probability of something like that ever happening, it's rational IMO. Has anything liked you described ever happened? What about your phone?

Have no idea. The thought just came to me one day when I was "researching". I certainly don't consider it out of the realm of possibilities though. If someone can hack your webcam then I'm sure they can record it as well. Talk about being in a compromised position though....face clearly visible and this and that...yeesh.

Nah. Don't care if someone records anything on there.

I do not put tape on my cam. But I also don't even have the drivers installed for the cam.

I recently witnessed a 50-something year old Co worker sit shirtless and pick his nose for a solid 15 minutes while his Webcam was inadvertently turned on during a conference call (we all wfh). So yeah, I have my cam covered.

would you really want to take a chance & find out a month later there was a security hole that hackers had taken advantage of to turn on your cam? its happened several times in the past.

just ask the fappening celebrities how they feel about how secure their cloud solutions were.

How so? Even major organizations with some of the most secure networks in the world get compromised. The latest example is NASA:

If you download a lot of torrents, I would recommend it. Some of those files apparently have malware installed that allow the tPOS's to see you.

this is why i opt for streaming movies from my android to my chromecast instead of grabbing random russian torrents.

having said that, if you don't know the difference between a media file and an EXE posing as a media file..you have no business on some sketchy-arse website downloading Frozen.

Years ago I got a new company laptop. That night at home it was dark and I was working and notice a Webcam. I got some tape and covered it. Months later while opening the laptop, the tape fell off. After closer inspection, I was a hole for a screw, not a Web cam
