Waterproof iPhone 8 cases

I’ve always had the Lifeproof Fre and it has been great but they are not available. I can’t go too long without a case.
Anyone know when they will be out or can recommend a solid alternative? Preferably something with a cover over the screen.

They have them on their website I think. iPhone 8/+ cases are essentially the same as the 7/+
ETA: I can't read. They are labeled as coming soon. Woops.

The iPhone 8 is supposed to be waterproof on its own. If you're talking about taking it snorkeling I'd get a waterproof case, but for just dropping it in the tub or pool it's supposed to be fine. I'd just get a case that protects the glass on both sides.

You don't need a waterproof case, just something that is decent at protecting if you drop it a lot.
I've tested the 7+ in waterproofing pretty heavily and the 8/8+ has better waterproofing. I swam in a river taking pics with it all day. It's a champ.

That’s real good to know!
So what about just a real tough case that will still let me use the wireless charging? I’ve read the thicker cases can cause problems with that.

The wireless charging signal can pass through most *non-metalic* materials, and easily passes through the thickness of most all standard cases. Based off this data, properly positioned, yes you can wirelessly charge your iPhone 8 while it is in its case... as long as your case isn't made of any kind of metal which blocks the signal.

With my 6 just a standard silicone case and tempered glass screen sticker have protected it well.
I'm not sure what kind of case I'd go with since the phone is all glass but it's only about 5 grams heavier so that's probably ok. If you want something better than just a random silicon case a lot of people swear by the tech 21 cases which have a unique impact absorbent material in the case.

I had the tech 21 case for my iPhone 6 that I loved. Did a great job. Currently rocking the leather case from apple on my 8+. Put one of those tempered glass protectors on yesterday for about 3 hours before I pulled it off. Not for me.

off topic,
I replied to you in the upgrade thread. Did you get in contact with Citizen loan about the extra 2 payments before the X comes out?

Time to live without a case. Don't drop your phone, it's not that hard.

I called and they said that will be handled when you apply for the new loan. They wouldn’t do anything about it when I called. Did you try?

No I kind of forgot about it. Haven't heard any success stories yet.

I had my iPhone 4s for about 1.5 years without dropping it and then dropped it and broke the screen twice in a 6 month period. The amount of times I dropped my phone in a 2 year period probably amounted to less than .0001% of the time I handled it, but when those rare instances occur you're screwed without a decent case.
Never dropping your phone is a terrible plan for keeping your phone safe.

Nah.
I work on a flightline and often my phone will get put in the same pocket as hardware and metal safety wire. And I have a 1 yr old.

Wow. Literally got the exact same setup. I got them to put on the tempered screen and no air bubbles. It did however crack the next day from a 2 foot fall. The remote red protector not my screen. So I guess it did it’s job? Supposedly they will replace the screen protector for free.
Does anybody have a recommendation on a waterproof case? I like this setup but want a dirt proof case to keep this phone in pristine condition. Like I did my iPhone 4 in an life proof from day 1, looked brand new 2 years later. Hoping for that again.
What route should I go?

That’s like telling someone a seat belt isn’t needed. I have no intention of getting in an accident (or dropping my phone) but you never know when some a-hole will bump into you

That's kinda strange. My son had a iPhone 7 and forgot it in his pocket when he stepped into our pool. It wasn't underwater more than 10 inches and maybe 15 seconds. It "functioned" but he couldn't call or hear anything from the speakers for about 2 hours.
