Walmart has agreed to buy TV maker Vizio, the companies announced Tuesday, as the largest U.S. retailer grows its high-profit ad business.

Walmart will acquire Vizio for $2.3 billion, or $11.50 per share, in cash. The big-box retailer announced the acquisition as it reported its fourth-quarter earnings.

Is Vizio about to go the way of Hisense and TCL?

Vizio is the top of the trash brand TVs. Now it will be the bottom.

It already did. They got out of flagship TV market a couple years ago because they found advertising revenue via their smart platform on cheap TVs made them a lot more money.

Vizio hasn't been at the top of anything since about 2021. Their stock has absolutely bottomed out from $24/s then to $4/s thus the sell off.

The first time I came across the Vizio brand was on a Black Friday circular from Walmart back in the mid 2000s. I always assumed that Vizio started off as a Walmart exclusive brand and was spun off.

Vizio WISHES it could be as good as Hisense or TLC. Vizio had always been a crap brand as far as I'm concerned. Bought my first 4k TV 6 years ago, a 55 inch Vizio. Hated the menu system, very laggy, mediocre picture, and it died literally a month after the warranty ended. Vizio I purchased for daughters room was crap also. Maybe Walmart will be the best thing ever for Vizio.

We bought a new living room TV a few months ago that replaced a 55" Vizio that was about 13 years old. We moved it to the bedroom, but it's been a solid TV. We use Rokus anyway so I don't really use the native interface.

I've met people happy with their Vizio tvs but I've met many more that feel otherwise. It started with glitches in the menu and progressed to a white band across the screen at times. Hate that TV. Digging up bad memories.

Isnt it crazy how prices of tvs continue to drop… it seems like tv’s are the only thing getting cheaper.

We only have Vizio TVs in our house, besides the one in my office that's a refurbished LG. Have zero complaints, besides the native interface being so slow. We use Fire Sticks anyway.

My 2008 Vizio is still going strong. It was even rained on when I lost my roof in a storm. Dried it out and it fired right up.
