I really don't want to go deal with all the crowds and crazy bullshite and I certainly won't go wait in line so the question is do I just buy a TV now or should I still wait till around that time and just go after?

Sam's is having a 1 day BF deal on Nov 14th before the actual BF and they have a 65" Vizio 4k for $998.

Currently, at my Best Buy they have 2 open box deals: Samsung 65" 4k and a Sony 65" 4K both for $1,599.

I'm thinking $1,000 sounds pretty damn good for a 65" 4k TV. But I like my Samsung 55" I have now so I worry I won't like the Vizio as much. Anyone have opinions between the 3 brands? Is the extra $600 worth it?

Back to my OP though, anyone know of anything that's going to be a smoking deal I can maybe order online? Maybe Amazon will be worth the wait?

I always thought Vizio was a nice TV.

If you prefer the Samsung I'd jump on it now. I hate BF. I've never been & will never go fight those idiots for material possessions.

Looks like the Sam's club deal is for the D65U-D2 -- D series is usually their cheapest panels for big box stores. Not much info on the net about them right now. The Sony and Sammy are going to have much better picture quality, less clouding, less backlight bleed.

Samsung's are way better than Vizio's IMO. I've had both and Samsung is worth the extra money.

Honest question: How much do you think you'll use the 4K part of your TV between now and next year when most all of them will be under $1,000 and the BF deals will have them for $699-799?

Good to know that, thanks. So it's bottom tier which I figured since it's at Sam's. $998 is pretty damn good though, but I'd rather spend more if it will look better and more importantly, last longer.

I know I won't use the 4k much at all.

That's the rub, I don't need a new TV. The Sammy 55" I have is really nice but I want bigger.. TWSS. I got money to spend and want a TV that fits the size of the room better, considering 70" as well. I figure the 4k is a bit of "future proofing". And I love to get a good deal so I figure I'll jump on a great TV if there's one to be had. It's just as possible BF comes and goes and I don't get a new TV because I refuse to deal with the maniacs.

Even if it's a lesser model, $998 for a 65" 4K is a good deal, if you want it.

I don't understand all this 4K hype nowadays. Not so much content available in 4K. None of game consoles support 4K games.
I think it's better to wait couple years and buy 4K TV for, let's say, $500 or less.

So why are you overpaying for something you won't use much at all? 380 days from now we'll either know that 4K is a viable next-step up in the 720-1080 heriarchy, or whether its the next HD DVD or 3D TV standard.

Why overpay for something in an essential gamble on the tech being adopted widely while its overpriced with no available content now?

Why not splurge on the quality and functionality using that money instead and then revisit next year? Seems to be simple math for me.

Well, no shite. But the M series and above for Vizio is still a great picture and you'll get a 65" Vizio for likely the same price as a 46" Samsung.

It's not a gamble it's happening. I could see waiting if you don't need a new TV but if I were buying a TV today it would be 4K considering how long I keep my TVs.

Vizios are great displays for the price. The problem is you're shopping for a 4k display (which the manufacturers want to sell) in a 720p/1080p content world. Where the Vizio falls short of Samsung and Sony, particularly, is in upscaling - which is the bulk of what your display is going to be doing for 3 or 4 years - unless you're just awash in 4k content. (You're not awash in 4k content are you?)

So, that's the reason for the difference in price - QA/QC, fit and finish, software (not the smart tv software, almost all of those suck - but the upscaling and color reproduction stuff) - heck, dollar for dollar, Vizio makes some of the brightest - eyepopping displays, easily. At the end of the day, it all depends on what you want.

Exactly. I'm buying a TV more than likely so why wouldn't I get 4k since I'll have it for a long time? It's not like 3D or curved, it's about a higher resolution, seems like that will eventually be the norm. If I just get a Samsung 65" 1080p it would still cost over $1000 so a couple hundred more for 4k seems worth it to me, but I don't know maybe not.

Nope. But the up scaling factor is good to know.

65-70" HDTV or 4k if price isn't that much more but on a TV that will last a long time and have a great picture. The Sam I have now is great, just not the right size for my living room. I figure it's a great time to be in the market since we're close to BF. I just hate crowds of maniacs and I won't be waiting in lines so I figured I'd see if anyone knew of some smoking deal.

I'd like to get a TV now as opposed to next year for starters. But here's 2 links on BB, the price difference isn't that crazy at all:

Samsung 65" HDTV

Samsung 65" 4k Ultra HDTV

$200, or $60 difference if I get the open box

Also have this LG 4k for $1,499
LINK
or Sony 4k for $1,599

And this is pre BF so I'm hoping the deals are even better in a few weeks.

I am trying to hold out for Samsung and Panasonic to enter the OLED market.
