How is the picture quality? I keep reading conflicting reports about 30fps vs 60fps on certain devices. 60fps makes a huge difference with sports and on-screen tickers.

Yes, 30 fps sucks for sports and tickers.

Has it been confirmed that Vue does 60 fps on Fire TV? I know it's claimed to but I've heard otherwise.

Prairieville cord cutters --- in the first phase of cord cutting, which for me is to get my local channels locked up. I ordered an HD indoor antenna from Amazon and I am OK with the quality of every channel other than Fox. This is one of the more important channels for me during football season. Can anyone recommend an antenna that has worked for them in the area? Thinking I may need to look at the attic mount route. FWIW I am planning to go with Vue as my main format. It looks like they offer CBS local but Fox is only In Demand and not live. Hwy. 42 area if this helps.

Do I need a pre-amped outdoor antenna or should I buy a regular and add an amp later?

Looked at my Cox bill today...$30 for 50/10 internet, $90 for TV. frick that, I'm turning it off and loading up a Firestick

How does it take to crack/load one with Kodi & all the good shite? Is it worth my time or should I just get one on EBay?

I pay $225 for Cox internet & TV. So $120 ain't shite lol.

It's very easy to load Kodi on a Fire Stick.

YouTube, very easy to install. I enjoyed learning how to install new add-ons and appearances. See page 1 of this thread for easy instructions.

I know this is a mega thread but there's too many pages and it's pretty much information overload for me so I'll post my question here... been thinking about cutting the cord, and I trust this places opinion more than any where else on the internet so please help me

at my house, we watch:

SPORTS (I'd have to be able to watch this live)
The Walking Dead (also would like to be able to watch this live)
HGTV
The NFL Network
Standard kids TV (paw patrol, etc)
Lifetime
CSI and those types of shows

Also, I would need a good speed for my internet because of console (XBOX 1) games like battlefield, GTA, Madden, etc

There are so many options, I don't know where to start, so if someone could recommend a setup and let me know the pros and cons of it I'd like to do some more research

TIA

I'm just starting the cord cutting adventure myself.

I started by looking at the streaming services to determine what fit my viewing needs. Review the channel lineups and features of DTVNow, PSVue, and Sling. See if those features and channels appeal to you, and fit your viewing arrangements (devices, DVR, etc.). Consider utilizing the free trial of each.

Another consideration is local OTA programming. Antenna required and channels available to you.

And of course Kodi. If you plan to use it, what device will it be on. This rabbit hole can go pretty deep depending on how you want to utilize it.

I personally am set on PSVue and Kodi on a FireTV, and local programming through an antenna and Tablo.

Kodi peeps... I'm trying to get the hang of this razzmatazz.. so far I've got Alluc, castaway, exodus, Phoenix, and ultimate white cream.

What addons am I missing here?

I think alluc has gone kapoot since I've added it and how the helllllllll do I find a game on castaway?

What is the best streaming service right now?

I have furnished rentals so I am paying almost $500 per month for cable/internet.

If there is a good alternative out, would save me thousands per year.

On that note, are these devices user friendly enough to where I wouldn't have someone pissed off at me for using this instead of a cable box?

I have DTVnow and I'm 100% satisfied.

hmmm that depends on your clientele. They would have to know how to operate a streaming device like ATV or fire stick.. if your renters are young, it shouldn't be an issue... if they're older, I'd say you'll probably get some complaints.
