Anyone have a suggestion for a good over the air HD antenna? Is an amplified antenna necessary to catch CBS/ABC while on LSU campus during gameday?
I have looked into battery/inverter v. generator and it looks like a battery will do the trick if I am just running one TV for 4 - 5 hours. Anyone have experience with this or suggestions on a good setup.
Any help is appreciated.

ABC will be a pain the arse, FYI. Don't get frustrated with the signal, it's the tower. CBS should be good to go..especially good considering the big game at 2:30

We catch everything pretty good except cbs at times. Sometimes we have to extend the Antenna out a few feet with extra coax cable.

Just go buy a chaep HD antenna from Walmart or Best Buy. I got mine from Best Buy for $12

Yeah we catch everything pretty well now. We set it up and tie it down to the top of our canopy. Bought about 15 feet of coax cable, a splitter, and some tie wraps.

A cheap set of Rabbit ears will pick-up CBS channel 9 better than most amplified HD antennas.

The High VHF signal needs a long antenna.

Amazon sells a flat 50 mile one for cheap their brand. Just as good as a 50 dollar mohu one.

It's always been the opposite for me in baton rouge. ABC is no problem. CBS rarely works.

I got Bestek 400w Inverter and 1byOne 50 mile HD Antenna. Using two boat batteries to power an LED TV. We'll see how it goes.

LSU doesn't provide power if you're tailgating on campus? Wow.

My friends and I just went last season to Tuscaloosa with an extension cord and plugged into the power on the Quad in T-town. Used my phone to stream the ESPN App and plugged my phone in through an HDMI adapter in to the TV we brought.

Y'alls stuff sounds complicated. We literally had:
-Extension cord
-TV
-iPhone w/ ESPN app
-HDMI cable and converter to go from phone to tv

Done.

Depends entirely where you are. We are in a little lot with a small campus road (maybe 25 feet wide) in between campus apartments. They have a receptacle but we have had issues with campus police in the past few years. They don't want us running our extension cord across the street. We've spray painted it a few times.

it's actually illegal to connect to campus power unless you are do so for legit campus purposes. If you run into a cop in a really bad mood, you can actually be ticketed and kicked off campus. It almost never goes down like that unless you are a belligerent ahole to the cop

with almost 100K tailgaters it's not feasible to supply power to everyone.

I know, I hate how every single game goer brings their own extension cord ready to hookup
