TV Remote reception

I bought a new tv that I mounted on on a mantle above a fire place and the tv is so thin it sits back far on it. Because of this I have to hold the tv remote way up in the air to use it. It won't work just casually from the couch.
Looking for any possible help. Do I need an IR blaster, or IR extender, or IR repeater? I don't know what any of these are. I don't even know if my tv has any inputs for this.
So I came across this and think it might work.
IR ghost
It looks like it doesn't require any inputs.. but it just boost the range? Would this work?
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can you take the TV down and use different bolt holes on the mount to raise it a little?

Just get an IR get. Put the target somewhere the remote will hit and put the flasher over the sensor on the TV.

I figured out the problem.
On these thin bezel TV's the IR receiver is on the bottom of the left side bezel.. I also still have the bezel plastic on. lol removing the bezel plastic off.. and then sliding the tv slightly to the left allowed enough of the IR receiver for the remote to work all over..
I now can use my remote casually! Thanks for the answers. I also have a better understanding of how the IR works and what not..
I also found this redneck solution to the problem.. lol
