About to hard wire most the house and just use one of the ports for the router. Who else does this?
I think an 8 port should be good for now with the one floor house we are about to move into.

I'm a big fan of Netgear. I have both the GS108 (8 port) and GS116 (16 port) gigabit switches and both been working great for several years.
