My Yamaha receiver just bit the dust and I've been looking around for a new receiver for my 5.1 setup.
I saw this. Not sure about Sony's reputation in regards to receivers. It would give me the chance to go to 7.2.

Any thoughts?

Case study: I've got an str-dh720 that had an hdmi output failure.
Doesn't mean really anything. But it's all I've got. Still puts sound out fine.

I'm also looking at an Onkyo

I have had 4 Sony's, one Onkyo and one Pioneer.
Sony's never had issues, Onkyo has horrible HDMI issues (they released a fix but u have to ship it to them), pioneer has been the best with all the cool apps to control sounds and configs.

There is no way in hell that thing puts out anywhere near 145W X 7.

I've had a Yamaha, Denon, and HK. HK was the best sound wise to me, but the Yamaha is a tank. Has outlived the other two by quite some margin.

Is your budget $300?
For a little more, the Denon X1100W or X2100W are heavily pushed on other sites.

They probably meant 145/7. And even then, probably peak.

I've had the STR-DN1010 for a little over 4 years. I paid $290 for it. No complaints here.
