Who here has one and what is your experience with them? I am thinking about getting the sound bar, sub and a play speaker to move from room to room.

Have two...both with the subs...the one in the my master bedroom also has a connect amp running 2 in cieling speakers for 5.1. I love them...and really all the other connect amps that power my house.

Yea, I really want to go this route and eliminate my receiver. However, until the issues with TVs only outputting stereo sound through the optical cable, I just can't.

Once Sonos makes the Playbar2 (whenever that is) and it has HDMI input, I'm all in!

I have come across that issue and fixed it in my situation. In my bedroom I only use a DRTV box. I have the HDMI coming out of it and into a device (brand escapes me at the moment) and that device pulls audio from the HDMI and sends it to a optical output and also has a HDMI output. I plug the HDMI into my TV and the optical into the soundbar and I get 5.1 verified via the sonos controller. I have tested both ways and see 2.0 from the TV and 5.1 via the other way and it makes a notable difference in sound.

Now if you have a few different sources other than just a DRTV box they make HDMI switches that have optical outputs as well I think. PLug all your devices into that...one HDMI into the TV and optical into the soundbar.

Correct I think Sony might pass 5.1 via optical and maybe others. The Samsung I have does not...found that out the hard way with a wtf moment the first try

Side question...you know where I can sell a unused icrealtime camera? I can post my email if thats easier. TIA

Correct. I think Sony and someone else generally pass through 5.1/7.1 via optical but Samsung and a host of others do not, they downplay that to merely stereo.

A lot of people have griped about this and it's my main reason for holding off. That and I already have a receiver with 7.1

Oh man, my wife would kill me if I had that much sound output + sonos sub in our bedroom. Yours bedroom must be big to not blast yourself outta that room.

That's also a lot of $$$ to invest in a bedroom.
ETA: NOLAGT, can I have some money? You're ballin', clearly!

its not that big 14x14 she just knew how I was when she married me. This is going to be our forever home so we saved, did well on selling past houses, and splurged a little.

I'd put it on eBay or Amazon. You likely won't get what you paid for it but better to unloaded now.

How does the sonos surround system + sub compare to your 7.2 system? As in, would you say it sounds pretty comparable OR it sounds 1/2 as good? How close does it compare?
