So I just bought some lights for outside (to change the lighting to purple and gold on gameday off course). I have been trying to install my lights and the bridge.

I purchased a Phillips Hue Bridge and 7 lights. The issue is after install, my app says that some of the lights are "unreachable" and 2 of them are not installing at all?

What is the issue, do I need a better modem for the distance since they are can lights or is it something else?

Please help!

You might actually get some answers if you edit your post and take those stupid all caps down. Assuming you even know how to edit a post.

You probably need to move the bridge closer to the outside lights...in fact you may need more than one bridge if it's that spread out, but I really don't know what sort of range they're supposed to have. My apartment is small enough for it not to matter.

If 2 of them aren't installing you may need to look at the manual instructions to add them, I think there's a serial or something on the light itself. I've never had any issues with my bridge finding lights, so I've never been through the process. I'm sure you can find a youtube video or something on it though.

I think the lights talk to the hub, so it's not a wifi problem, and upgrading your router would not change things. You may need to move the hub to another part of your house, or get a 2nd hub.

only because i feel sorry for y'all i'm going to stop the bleeding in this thread.

There are three sorts of Zigbee radios; Coordinator, Router and End Device.

Coordinator is a hub or bridge, it's where the devices register. (hue hub)

Routers are nodes in the mesh network. They can communicate back to the coordinator and also onwards to other nodes. (all hue lights)

End Devices can only talk to a parent device (a router or coordinator), they cannot relay data. (battery-operated devices)

Hue light bulbs are routers (powered devices) and you can place one every 100 ft and since hue supports 50 bulbs thats 5,000 ft or effectively a mile long path they will continue to work.

I get all that. I may have a distance between bulbs issue. I have them installed outside on the can lighting. I have 4 in the front and 3 on the side by my garage which is in the back of the house...its a 2100 sqft house, not a mansion by any means.

I finally got 6 out of 7 to install but still "unreachable". I bought a new modem/router which is pretty good, but still my lights not working properly. I even changed the Zigbee channel and nothing.

Do you think a wifi extender will help?

No, it has nothing to do with your internet.

Stupid question...but you do have power to the bulbs, right...they are turned on when pairing?

Yes I do.

I'm just returning this crap product! I have been reading that this is a common problem with these stupid lights.

Well, CAD does love them so you are probably right on that point.

I wonder if the sequence in which I install them matters. In other words, do I have to sync each one at a time opposed to plugging them in all at once then going to app and syncing them all at once?

Bump

CAD- is this the starter kit I need?

LINK

Says 2nd gen.. does that matter?

I'm just looking - light light bulbs are $50 a piece.. how often do you have to change them out? At $50 a pop, with the way I'm going to have them laid out, that's about $300 if they all go out at the same time
