So I decided to flash my Nexus back to stock

You can't do Android Pay or any other pay on tap service while rooted. I haven't found any real reason to keep it rooted now. I flashed Pure Nexus and ElementalX but I haven't seen any drastic improvement or customizing that is worth it. The only thing that is neat is the multi window.
Anybody have any tips or tricks while rooted that could possibly get me to overlook Android Pay?

tasker
I had tasker on my unrooted device. What kind of stuff would require root? I haven't found many automated things that I would need to do.

power toggles
That part is nice to have the sound profile on the power toggle

I think there are some browsers that already have it. If not, I have been dealing with them long enough.

That would have been greenify. However, with Doze, doesn't that already do something similar?

tasker is way more flexible with root. to be honest, i'm not sure because i always root after running into limitations so i'm not sure which of my scripts require root and which dont.

it removes ads from APPs, not just websites. adaway on the phone gets rid of tons of annoying pop up ads, not just when you're in a browser. it updates every morning with new ad defintions. i was using a phone without adaway and my experience was HORRIBLE. i couldn't believe how many of the free apps i use now were ad-infested.
for 3rd party apps, a big one for me is the pioneer app radio unchained which allows you to mirror your andoid screen on the pioneer HU so its not crippled with the 4 shitty apps that come installed on it.

Always at the top of my list of reasons to root. I can't stand seeing ads, either on web pages or apps.

Adaway, Android pay, and viper sound mod all working fine here with systemless root. I'm happier stock rooted than running roms (have been custom Roms for years). Every month when an update comes it takes 5 mins to fastboot the update and I'm moving right along.

Android pay is working? When was the last time you tried it ?

Also, where is the adaway apk

Friday i bought something at bestbuy with it. I had already done the may update via fastboot as well, so totally up to date

I've run a stock Nexus 6 with Nova launcher for probably 6 months.. I don't miss the root.

I need root just for root call blocker pro. I'm self employed and the amount of solicitor calls I get daily is insane. Over like 4 years of using the app I've got over 600 numbers blacklisted.

Yeah. frick all the benefits of rooting and custom kernels because it looks cool to pay with your phone. Lol
Fwiw, I'm rooted using systemless root with Cataclysm and fanco kernel and Android pay works (even though I don't use it).

You can. I use it rooted (systemless) with zero issues

I have chase which doesnt support it. Sorry i went off on my own tangent and wasnt talking about root/nonroot.
Just frustrated at all the stupid "insertname" pays to where none of them get used since people never know which terminal accepts what.

So I used wug toolkit to root mine. It's not working with android pay. I'm guessing this isn't systemless?

So... Do I need to reflash to stock then do this or can I work around what I have? I get extra nervous dealing with this stuff for some reason.

revert back to complete stock setup and then go through the systemless root procedure. Read very carefully. Once you flash the systemless supersu, DO NOT swipe to flash supersu when you reboot from TWRP. TWRP will say you aren't rooted/running supersu and ask if you want to flash, but you indeed are. It checks the /system partition and doesn't see it because obviously its a "sytemless root". Systemless supersu root doesn't modify the /system partition. This allows things to work that traditional root breaks(like android pay). They will warn and remind you multiple times not to "swipe to flash supersu" when rebooting from TWRP.
