My dad has a Samsung UN55C8000 tv that clicks, but doesn't turn on. He said F it and bought a new one and said I can have the old one and do with it what I want.

I know the general consensus says they're not worth fixing but I have no idea what's wrong with it. Hoping it could be something simple, just looking to see if anyone has any ideas.

If it's cheap enough to fix I'm sure I could find a use for it.

ETA if not, it will be fun to shoot at anyway.

Sounds like it may be a capacitor issue. Had a Samsung with a capacitor problem a few years back. The fix is ridiculously quick. It was under warranty for me so I got it repaired for free. Not sure how much it would cost.....but I can't imagine it costing that much.

Currently, no. When it was having the problems, yes.

Def sounds like bad capacitors. I've replaced some on a Sammy plasma. very easy and cheap to do

How to change capacitors

Just look for caps with bulging tops and change them out

$4.35 for more caps than you will need

Had the same issue on my Samsung. I changed the capacitors and that fixed it

Almost always the case when they simply won't turn on. Very easy fix
