What in the hell is the point of a 4k screen in a phone? It's so fricking stupid.

If Samsung is going to continue to push their Gear VR, it's beneficial to them to also continue pushing pixel densities beyond any other practical use. Wonder how the battery will hold up.

The 4k screen is the biggest waste of money. 2k is more than good enough as it is. Give us battery life.

Because people are stupid enough to think they need it and will pay for it.

I don't think many on here understand how impressive and well reviewed the Gear VR is.

The 4K screen is an absolute must for it, and considering the consumer version of the VR is launching with this phone, uh yeah, it's gonna be 4K and yes, it's definitely needed and requested. More than just a phone screen now.

Venture Capital Post, like other sources, reveals that Samsung will release the first official consumer version of the Samsung Gear VR along with the Note 5.

Even though the current developer’s version of the Gear VR is receiving great reviews, many complain about the small 96 degree field-of-view. This will likely be fixed on the consumer version of the Gear VR, which will work with the Galaxy Note 5. Another complaint is the “screen-door” effect that is due to the limited (when put against your face) Quad HD resolution on the Galaxy Note 4. Since the Galaxy Note 5 will have a 4K screen, the effect should be gone.

What is the lure of a screen that wraps around the side like that? Seems like a drawback for any apps that use the full width of the screen and also getting cases for it could be problematic.

4k in a 5.78" screen is pretty nice but I'm not sure if you'd notice a difference from say, 3k. Seems like a waste of processing/battery power. I'd definitely be interested in seeing it in action though.

I have the current Note Edge. My wife has the Galxy S6 Edge. Mine is by far better as far as what the edge can do and I'm not sure I like both sides being curved. I'd have to try it out. But the edge screen is pretty useful IMO and I really like it. The faster specs, better screen and battery are of course great. I may sell mine and get the Note 5 Edge if it's really upgraded. I have had issues with Google Maps lately but I'm not sure that's a specific phone issue. Anyone else having issues with Maps and the location being slow and can't turn search history on?

I got the note 4 edge and love the single edge as it is way more useful than I imagined.

When browsing or gaming and I receive a text, it reads across edge without me having to go to the app.

The time, apps I use most and many other tools are GREAT on the edge.

It has me wanting the s6 but I don't want to give up the screen real estate.

The only issue I ever have with this phone is the Facebook app. It freezes once in a while when I get too fast

The note 4 edge has better functionality, but the Galaxy 6 edge with both sides curved looks way better.
