I have 2 fire sticks and 2 apple tv. I rarely use the apple tv. I have no idea what people are complaining about with the fire stick. Both work flawlessly.

learn from my experience on this... unless everything in the chain is hdcp compliant, you aren't getting 4K content.

LINK

Here are the steps to verify that your other devices are capable of supporting 4K content:
1.Your TV must be 4K UHD with an available HDCP 2.2 HDMI® input.
2.Even if your TV supports 4K, not all inputs on that TV may be HDCP 2.2 enabled. Check the owner’s guide or TV manufacturer’s online support instructions to make sure your TV meets these requirements.
3.If you are connecting your Roku player through an AVR, the AVR must also support HDCP 2.2. Every device in the chain between the Roku player and the TV must be HDCP 2.2 compliant. Check the documentation for your AVR to make sure that HDCP 2.2 is supported on the HDMI input that you are using.
4.If you are using an AVR and you want to see if it is the source of the issue, you should remove the AVR from the chain and connect your Roku player directly to a HDCP 2.2 input on your TV and see if you can stream 4K content when connected directly.

I've had a roku and a Firestick. The Firestick is above the roku simply because of kodi. I run an Android box now and there's no beating it.

Roku has the largest, best variety of streaming content channels you can imagine.
I thought the OP asked which device does Vue run better on.

I've used Vue on both the Roku and Fire TV and without a doubt it runs better on Fire TV. The Roku's interface is dog shite. There's no guide and you have to press about 4-5 buttons to change channels.

Both have occasional buffering issues but it think that's common with all streaming devices. In my experience, I had more issues with the Roku buffering. Not horrible, but the Fire TV seems to buffer less.

Maybe the Tech Board is not the right place to ask this question, but I'm going to try again.

Do any of these cord cutting content providers offer the SEC Network? If so, which ones?

I have the Roku Ultra and have been very happy with it. I use it strictly for 4k streaming though. Excellent quality and is being used on reference level equipment in the entire chain.

PS vue comes with a login for watch ESPN. You can get sec network + there. It has the regular sec network in the normal channel lineup.

I went the roku route last year, and havent looked back. I got subscriptions to Sling TV, Netflix, HULU and Amazon Video. Works very well for my household.

Here's a dumb question. Since apps like ESPN and other network apps require you subscribe via your cable provider, if you cut the cable and no longer subscribe, does that mean you must pay some kind of monthly fee to each individual network in order to view them? I really don't understand this step in the cut cable process and have no tech savvy young person in my life to hold my dinosaur hand and walk me through this.

When you set up your subscription, you add different packages like sports, family etc...If you have Watch ESPN, there is a spot on the app to log in with Sling TV.
