Replacing the front screen on my iphone 5s

So, dropped my phone and bought a replacement screen. Now I can't get the new screen to work. I see the light on from the back (inside part) of the phone but the screen won't come on.
I've even tried putting the shattered front back on thinking it was a bad screen delivered. It's not working either.
Anyone have any ideas? Is this thing toast?
TIA

Maybe you slightly tore a ribbon cable upon removal, or you're not seating the cable well enough... or you damaged something else during the install. The fact that the old one doesn't work anymore either is definitely not a good sign.

Yeah, was thinking the same thing.
Now I got the screen to come on the there are white lines running from top to bottom of the screen.
EDT: Oh, and all the ribbons were new and already installed on the replacement screen.

When you say you bought a "screen", what did you buy? You have to replace both the glass and the LCD. It's not as easy as it looks, and I heard it's harder on newer model iPhones

Nah, bought the whole set up (speaker & front camera included). It's my second time doing this. Didn't seem too bad the first time. But this time, it's just not working.
I went to a "fix it" shop and they said it was a bad LCD screen. In sending this one back for another. If you'd like, I can update (or probably ask questions) later.

Idk, if I explained that well enough.
The front of the screen is black with white stripes (vertical) but if I looked inside of the phone, I could see the screen was lit. Just not shining through. IDK, this is my best attempt (all be it horrible) at trying to explain this.

Cheaply made China screens. I just finished replacing a 5s screen and same thing happened, unfortunately for me, the original screen digitizer/lcd was damaged during impact. Luckily for me I bought it off amazon and filed a claim.

Yeah, I didn't buy from Amazon but I can return it.
I'm just going to pay someone to fix this thing. I don't feel like dealing with it anymore.
