Did they charge you more for your internet when you cut the cable TV packages out?

My preferred internet went from $64 to $72 this month. It's my first month completely off cable.

Yes. I pay $85 a month without a package. $65 if I would bundle it.

ATT Uverse? If it's in your area. My family does not pay any additional costs after we cut the cord (minus internet).

But it may not be in your area and also Cox is generally 2x as fast for the same price point. I've found I don't really need anything greater than 45mb/s though.

I pay $64 but it was only for the 1st 12 months. I have a feeling it's going to jump to $85.

Uverse sucks in my area. Would never even think about it.

Yes.

I can't get the damn basic cut because the cost of internet only is like $14 higher than internet plus basic.

Mine is cheaper with a home phone. I just have the phone unplugged. Only calls I've ever gotten were solicitors

The thing I hate about cox is my bill is never the same. All I have is internet and my plan never changes, but my bill varies by small amounts. It's never enough to get me to spend an hour on the phone to find out why. I just can't wait for the day that I have an option to drop them.

You made me check my bill just now, and sure enough my bill went up $5 this month. Mine is due to a TV package, though. Those motherfrickers are bumping up the cost of the DVR service from $15 to $20/month. Why in the hell does it cost extra for DVR service anyway? It's not like they do anything, the box does all the work, and they already charge $8.50/month apiece for those.

It's as if they don't want subscribers anymore.

The problem with that is they are the best or only option in places where they operate. They don't care. They have gone from the cable business to the fine print business.

If you ever get a promo from them that says you can upgrade something for only x amount a month, read the fine print and it will say that is for 2 months then your bill skyrockets. To me that is just dishonest. Just promote your product and tell me how much it costs up front. Don't try to hide your pricing and trick people into upgrading.

Our bill went from $120 last March to $220 this March -- incrementally of course. Each time I would call and ask why there was an increase, and each time it was some mysterious promotion that had expired. Finally I called and said "tell me what promotions I have", and the lady responded by saying "I'm sorry sir but you aren't eligible for any promotions at this time."

So I ask her to give me my price for Preferred internet ONLY, and she tells me $67. I ask her to cancel everything else on our account, and she clicks away for a few minutes and then with a joyful tone says "Ok Sir, your new bill will be $92!" I, of course, ask why, and she says "your promotional price expired"

then she tells me that I can upgrade to Premier internet for only $5 per month more, and on top of that, if I add Basic (13 channel) cable, they can give me all of it for $64 a month.

Seriously... call and ask them for it...

They're not increasing box and DVR costs because the FCC announced they couldn't mandate their own boxes at the end of the last mile.

Going Box agnostic is going to-eventually-require them to compete using their own versions alongside Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, etc. Which is where they'd get absolutely destroyed.

They're gonna fleece you for as long and as much as they can get away with until that happens...
