CAD..............I just dont like you right now.

You did all that research on which Zwave switch is better and convinced me that the Lutron switch is the best (well i looks the best to me), So i went with them. My whole house that i wanted automated 20 something switches.

Well as you know im switching from Wink 1 to Smartthings and come to find out, the lutron switches are not compatible with STs (without a lutron bridge because the signal isnt really Zwave). really WTF. How can a small unknown shitty company like WINK who has almost gone under a couple time have the ability to natively connect to the Lutron network yet the Mr. Big Dick Samsung cant. And only just now got them integrated with the required 100$ lutron bridge.

Lucky for you i was browsing ebay last night and saw a 100 OBO for the Lutron bridge pro. and i offeres 65$ and the guys accepted it. He must have really wanted to get rid of it. But if not for that i would be even more pissed at you.

Now i have to have my ST hub, next to my Lutron hub, next to my Hue hub, next to my Harmony hub. My Closet is almost hubed out.

hey i never told you to switch to smartthings, big guy. that's on you.

and look at it this way, when samsung sells ST to Run DMC in a year, you'll still have your lutron hub to control your lights...lutron isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

eta and while i'm here, a new MOVEZ update came in last night:

UPDATE #10

quote:

We hope that you are all well.
The cold has come to Sweden and the hysteric shopping for christmas presents has begun :)
For all of you that has friends that does not have a home automation hub at home you are always welcome to mention our Bluetooth version MOVE ;)

We have a question!
We would like to know if there are any interest from you to be able to pull sensor data from MOVEZ. Each MOVEZ could be able to report temperature and a sun value (sun value will be based upon the solar panel).
Please answer “YES” or “NO” in the comments below or send your answer to info@teptron.com and we will go through the answers and see if there is enough interest to make that a reality :)

Status information
We can happily inform that we are taking steps forward with the development of MOVEZ. Like we have mentioned earlier we have had some issues with code and components which have caused delays. But the list of things needed to be corrected is getting smaller every day. One of the biggest challenges that we did not anticipate this time around is how many different certification regulations we need to conform to. There are a lot more documents to go through this time compare to what we needed go through with the first bluetooth MOVE.
We totally understand that you all want MOVEZ now! We are pushing forward as fast as we can but unfortunately due to code and component problems we have not been able to get further in the certification process. That said and to give an estimate based upon the current situation we believe that we will be able to ship the first quarter of 2018.

If you have any questions please send them to info@teptron.com
Take care!

MOVEZ Team

Well all I have to add is i'm still WAITING on the damn zwave motors to ship (see latest update above).

I did run across a problem, however: my wife loves to leave those french doors open (above the scary goblin in that photo) and we get all kinds of flying bugs in the house.

The issue is if I automate those blinds, because its a VERY VERY SUN HEAVY area in the afternoon, all the bugs hang out on the windows on the inside...and...wait for it....on the shades.

If I automate the closing and opening of the shades I stand a really good chance that I'm going to roll up a bug in them and get squashed bug juice all over them.

In fact this has already happened once when my wife rolled the shades up without checking. It cleaned up pretty well but now I'm seriously having second thoughts that within a couple of months (particularly the summer) I'm going to end up with a bunch of squashed bug guts all over my shades.

Its less of a problem when rolling them down than rolling them up because they roll down in the late afternoon and don't trap bugs. The real issue comes when you automatically roll them up later when the bugs have gone to sleep on the backs of the shades between the shades & the window.

Anyone have automated shades and encounter this problem?

Its something that never occurred to me until after I put the shades in.

On that note, I've been looking for ambient lights for behind the TV. I see that Hue has lights that do numerous colors for 89$ at BestBuy.

I have a gen1 Wink hub but I'd also need to add a Hue hub too, correct? That's not ideal. Are their any ambient lights for behind the TV that are wink compatible out of the box?

Bite the bullet. A hue hub is one of the best things you can invest in.

Can the Hue hub obsolete my wink hub? I doubt it. Right now I've got my wink hub connected to my Harmony hub so I can control my lights and all.

the hue hub will control all the colors of the hue bulbs. Wink cant do that without the hue hub.

no, it works "with" the wink hub.

actually, it doesn't even do that. you simply 'log in' to your hue account in the wink app and you're using their API to control all the hue lights, set colors, etc. it would still work even if you don't have a wink hub at all.

- the hue app is meh
- alexa & google home are awesome with hue since you can change colors, etc. via voice
- wink is great with hue because you can set colors, etc. via robots & schedules
- IFTTT adds all the cool stuff like changing the lights to LSU colors whenever the tigers are on TV or changing the lights to blue when it starts raining outside.

hue colored lights are the favorite 'smart' thing in my house and i have over 100 smart things hooked up now.

Sylvania Lightify has a RGBW lightstrip that works directly with Wink

So a year later and that post is still the best option for cheap "smart blinds"?

hey, i got tapts (used), unopened trippers (and used ones) and unopened outlinks (and used ones).

can you put in a word for me on the FB page? I don't have FB and i need to get rid of them.

did you get rid of all your trippers as well?

its horrifying to me how consistently shitty all the quirky products are. all my trippers, taps & outlinks go offline constantly and it sucks. i'm either popping the trippers open to pull the battery off or hitting the circuit breaker for the tapts & outlinks.

then they work for between 2 weeks & 2 months before going offline again.

meanwhile i've got those crappy little zwave gocontrol sensors outdoors on my mailbox & pool gates and painted over and they have yet to go offline ONCE in almost 3 years.

I still have a few trippers and outlinks around. Don't have too much trouble with those.

If you can get me a list with prices, I can post on the FB group...or buy some myself

Anyone know if hue bulbs work with Lutron Dimmers. Really don't feel like changing out the switches to add colored bulbs.

you can't dim hue bulbs from the switch so that would be redundant. you need the switch at full power and then you dim the bulbs via the hue app.

non-dimmable lutron switches would be fine but you may get into some weird behavior if you try to dim a hue bulb using the switch; it would probably just turn off.

Thinking of adding

August Smart Lock Pro + Connect, 3rd gen technology

To my wink set up and the external keypad accessory. Anyone currently using these? Also do I need the connect if I already have a wink hub?
