Can you connect to that site via the wink api? I keep getting a .net error.

Yes, just logged into it on my phone.

Eta: send wink events to other apps. This is something he just released. Haven't played with it yet.

Is this something I could use if I want to add an extra switch to turn my ceiling fan on or off, vs how I do it now which is that its on the same switch as the light?

The only reason you have that hardwired is so they all go off. You still have to replace the batteries every couple years.

My current detectors are powered by AC and just have a battery for backup. The Kiddie versions for Wink are powered entirely by batteries.

So while you are technically correct, you could opt to slowly replace the hardwired set with the wireless ones since they do the same thing.. It would just be funky while you still have some old and some new since depending on where the detector went off...only the others on the wired or wireless would join in.

Yes, that's where I'm at. I need to replace one immediately, so I'll have to do that and then probably add a couple of the Wink detectors as additional installments that I can then remove and take with me when I move again.

Yes and no. Mine were the same yet about once a year one would start chirping because the battery was low. Annoying as shite trying to track down which one was doing it. So yes technically it's on AC but you will still have to replace those 9v batteries every couple years so what's the point.

Wink support phone number has been ringing for 2 days and no one is answering.

Nice. I don't want to readd everything unless I know the problem is resolved.

Im not taking the hub out of the box until you get your issues resolved.

I may still end up going with Samsung because its a larger company.

Not answering support is BS

I was actually looking into Wink recently, but may pump the brakes until whatever this is works itself out.

pretty much every break in the day I've had for the last 2 days.

They can't afford an answering machine or automated message?

My Wink hub has been flashing purple since the power came back on Saturday. All of my functions work; however, I'm not able to "log in" to the hub through the app to resolve the blinking light.

This may be jinxing myself, but my Wink Hub has been performing great lately... I was having some connection issues, but once I moved the hub away from the router everything stayed connected. I have recently added a z wave outlet and a z wave switch with no problems, and I have a couple of plug-in outlets coming in soon.

I wouldn't base my decision on CAD's experiences considering he has his entire family compound automated (no offense, CAD)

Any recommendations for an inexpensive temperature sensor that is wink compatible? I want to set up a robot to have an outlink turn on if the temp in a specific room goes below a certain temperature, and then turn off if it goes above a different temperature. Having trouble finding something.

No. I'm honestly surprised simple inexpensive zwave humidity, temp, motion, light, etc sensors aren't more available.

Horse before cart type of thing I guess. Diy home automation has to go mainstream before cheap doodads start showing up.

I'm frustrated by all the devices offline. What started as an experiment has been so nice that with everything broken I am unable to do things like turn the floodlights on from my bed or bathroom when I hear my son leaving in the dark to go to school since he leaves at 530am.

At least we have the egg-minder!

Sounds like you'll need to get a motion sensor flood fixture.

yep. here are some things that are frustrating the hell out of me:

TODAY - front door left open all night and unlocked. (yep, its hard to close and without the tripper nobody fricking noticed it was ajar letting in 20 degree wind all night)
LAST NIGHT - going to smoke a cigar on the screened porch and the backyard globe doesnt come out so i cant tell what the animal noises are i'm hearing
LAST NIGHT - needed to get into the attic and the GE bulb didnt come on and i had wrapped the cord around a beam (because its automated right?) so i had to use a flashlight
LAST NIGHT - someone turned on both front door and night porch lights and they stayed on all night.

WHATS GOING ON!?! DOGS LYING DOWN WITH CATS! ITS ANARCHY!!

i want to speak to a wink-human first to determine if i should just reset all my fricking devices and start over or just try to bring the ones back to life that died.

also if they havent corrected whatever happened, i dont want to do this just to lose everything again in a week.

Alarm dot com has one, ADC-S2000-T-RA, which are Zwave. I know when you pair it with their brand thermostat it allows you to target temps for those locations. When used with other smart thermostat on the alarm dot com network it just allows you to see temps in those locations. Not sure if it would work with Wink.

OK OK OK. learned lots of things today.

A. wink says there is nothing wrong with the phones and that its my imagination that i tried to call repeatedly and it just rang and rang.

B. they can see my shite (mostly) but they can't tell me why its "not responding" (new term i learned today). turns out all my zwave is GONE, but trippers & tapt use 'zigbee' so they are still showing up in my app, just "not responding".

C. lutron is still alive thanks to the bulletproof proprietary wifi signal they use. of course. i knew i liked lutron.

D. they will have to help me later (open until 9pm at least) and are going to call & walk me through some kind of charades to get my trippers & tapt back up without having to completely re-add them.

E. the schlage may be gone completely, but using the 'exclusion mode' they will try to unpair & repair it. if that fails, i gotta pull the batteries and factory reset the lock

D. not sure about leviton and GE dimmers. they said they'll help me get those back going.

E. GE bulbs use MESH (talk to each other) as part of their zigbee so hub-distance is less of an issue because much like dominoes, each bulb can 'light' the next. they said they have applications where GE bulbs going down a long driveway several hundred feet work fine because each bulb talks to the next.

cree doesn't do that.

cree bulb is going back and i'm swapping for a GE because i like all my bulbs helping each other out.

F. zwave supposedly does the same thing.

G. GE bulbs are sealed meaning they also work better in outdoor applications (like my outside post lights) whereas the CREE has vents meaning moisture will probably wear the bulb out much faster.

H. they 'have seen this' happen to a 'couple other people' in the last week but still tried to act like they were taken by surprise that so many of my devices went away

I. the advanced WINK features work like this:

- RESET ZWAVE -- kills all your zwave products
- LEARNING MODE and
- SHIFT CONTROLLER -- experimental features used together to move controlled products from wink to another hub like smartthings
- INCLUSION MODE and
- EXCLUSION MODE -- used when devices fail/act up to reset them on wink without having to completely factory reset the devices from scratch.

thats about it.

Someone else complained about the phone ringing and ringing. Also said, it used to go to a robot.

Ended up purchasing a relay today at $139 because they disappeared from the HD website. Probably won't open it up in case something is announced that would make me return it.
