There actually is a small spinoff group trying to continue with XBMC for XBox. No idea how current or workable it is:

Their last release was back in May, so it may not be a very active project any longer.

watchESPN, Prime, and KODI is a much better option if you're completely cutting the cord

So you would recommend the Amazon Fire devices as the best option with those?

Cool

From what you posted, it should fit your needs. Let me know if you have any questions

Will do.

Why do you say the Fire Stick over the box? Just as good at a much lower cost?

I'm sure it is a bit faster and you can use an Ethernet cable to box connection. Has more memory, faster processor, and can play games on it.

But for what I use it for, the Stick is good enough.

Finally got Kodi fully operational instead of just Sportsdevil. Wow, I am certainly impressed with the content. Hopefully I will be able to get rid of Netflix soon and consider upgrading my bandwidth with that money.

I put Kodi on my tablet last night and wasn't able to find much. Nothing that would convince me it's better than cable. I'm guessing I just haven't gotten into it enough.

Does anyone have any experience with the varying brands of streaming boxes that run Android and have Kodi built in?

Such as the Nettech MXQ Quad-core Kodi/XBMC Android 4.2 TV Box w/ Special Edition Kodi & XBMC free 4k content.

RQN Android Tv Box MXQ Kodi(xbmc) Fully Loaded 1080p Quad Core Smart Media Player, IPTV,OTT TV ,Root,4k, H.265

Mifanstech M8S Android 4.4 Tv Box with Amlogic S812 Quad Core CPU 2G DDR3 8G NAND Flash Supports 2.4G/5G Dual Band Wifi 4K HD Output KODI 15.2 XBMC Pre-installed Streaming Media Player

There are several others, but these are all between $35-$50. Which is a pretty good deal with what is available.

Sorry, can't link them. Found them on the Amazon App.

Are there any decent alternatives to Cox or U-verse in Pensacola that I'm missing. I've had both and am largely underwhelmed by both. If I get rid of cable, I'll want to get the best Internet available. Right now, we have U-verse's Power at 45 Mbps and it's rare to see speeds anywhere near that.

I'm searching for the best streaming service (with ESPN) that also gives me the ability to DVR the local channels. I have HD antennas already.

DVRs: Tivo Bolt? Channelmaster?
Streaming: Roku? Sling TV? Hulu?

I already have subscriptions to both Netflix and Amazon.

I wouldn't mind the $15 guide/sub fee for the Tivo if they offered sling.

DTV bill is astronomical.

I heartily recommend the Tivo Bolt. Amazon, Netflix, Hulu and Vudu are built-in so you don't need a separate streaming box. The guide is only $12.50 a month when you pay a year in advance. The first year is included in the purchase price. Get the Bolt for your main TV and Tivo Minis for the other TVs in your home. The guide subscription covers all of them at no additional charge. The only catch is ESPN which is not supported on Tivo at this time. I keep a separate Roku box for that and split the ESPN subscription cost with a family member who still has cable. Sling is expensive if you only get it for ESPN.

Thanks.

I'll probably switch to TiVo Bolt. I just wish they had a contract with Espn.

You won't be sorry. It's the best designed DVR and program guide I've ever seen. I switched just a few months ago from Windows Media Center. Everything is right there at your fingertips--DVR, live programs, streaming channels, and Plex for your local media. The search function searches all of them at once, very powerful. The Tivo Minis have built-in MoCA so you can use your existing coax if you're not wired for ethernet. They're not wireless devices.
