Come on now...it would be one thing if we were talking 2-3 years of putting in your pocket but we are talking less than a week.....that is a real problem.
You dont understand the issue. The metal isnt degrading over time. It doesnt withstand a certain degree of improperly distributed pressure. That has nothing to do with duration of use.

cant someone simply use a torque wrench on an iphone 6+ then on a similar sized device & provide the math?
that doesnt seem too hard.
that doesnt seem too hard.

New iPhone Bending
That's why I'm waiting for the carbon fiber iPhone.
<----not buying the aluminum iPhone.

It's already too big to be in most pockets comfortably anyway.
My note3 fits just fine.

Hence "most".
CAD, you want to waste all that money, go for it.

i've seen new iphone 6's in blenders and dropped on the street. seems you just want to apply enough torque to make it 'bend' and not break right?

nearly All. In fact my gf has little trouble with her note3 in all but the smallest of girl pockets.
A phone that size isnt too big. I mean it was when the reviews fro the Note3 came out...but as soon as the 6+ was reviewed, it was suddenly just right.

Sorry your girl wears man clothes I guess.

To the comment from whoever about Apple properly educating the public on how to handle the 6+, what exactly did you mean? Does a phone this size require a murse?
If you honestly cant put it on your pocket and sit, I think it would be a deal breaker for me. Something like going to a football game would require me keeping the phone in my pocket while sitting.
It requires common sense. When you sit, do you feel pressure due to the phone being in the hip flexion? Has the phone rotated into a position such that it doesn't lie smoothly along the length of your thigh and is being stressed along some axis by taut clothing against your chubby thigh? If the answer to these questions is "No", you are correctly sitting with a pocketed phone, and it will not bend. If the answer is "Yes", and you ignore what's happening to that thin, lightweight, long, wide metal and glass sammich and fail to correct the issue, you lack common sense.

Pressure is pressure. We're not talking about slowly weakening edges; we're talking about "new" metal being bent.
So are you telling me that I should have no reasonable expectation that my new IPhone 6+ will not bend in my pocket the first day? That seems crazy but maybe you are right.
Posted on 9/23/14 at 4:14 pm to LSU316
That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying the expectation should be that if there's enough pressure on the phone in your pocket, you can expect it to react the way any piece of metal would react under the same circumstances.

this guy gets it.
How could you not feel that pressure being applied when your body is creating the bend? when my phone falls sideways in my pocket I can tell immediately and adjust. I rarely, if ever, sit with my phone in pocket because it is uncomfortable. I imagine the 6+ would feel like that all the time.

You don't think I get it?

*sigh* Perhaps someday we will have the technology to create pocketable phones. Someday.

Ahhhh, I see that the annual, week after release, blown out proportion iPhone problem story has been agreed upon.
I tell ya, color me shocked. This NEVER happens the week after a major iPhone release.
Is this the end of the iPhone like antenna gate on the 4 or purple lens flares on the 5?
This is in no way predictable other than being totally predictable.

It's a relatively thin and large piece of metal (only the 6+ is reportedly bending). It's already too big to be in most pockets comfortably anyway. Sit down with it, and physics takes over

quote:Would you consider the HTC One M8 premium? Or the Samsung S5? Or the Note3? Because there are reports of all of those receiving damage from pressure inside a pocket. But you don't hear about it because that doesn't get the attention that the iPhone does.
I guess the device isn't premium then.

You get it, but I can see how it is a story. Either way, people are still stupid. If you drop glass, it breaks. If you bend metal, it curves. People don't blame apple when they drop their phone and the screen cracks.
