New 70" tv

Is 4K worth it?
I'm looking at two vizios.
Ones 4K for 1600ish the others not 4K for 1200. Same amount of hdmi inputs.
Is there much of difference?

4k is essentially 4x the resolution of 1080p. If you get 4k, it is pretty awesome and worth it. The problem is that 4k content is very limited today. You would need to stream it (via Netflix) or watch on demand 4k.
If you have Directv, there is a dedicated 24/7 4k channel with 25 MLB games broadcasted in 4k - but no ESPN, no CBS/NBC/ABC - it is VERY limited. Dish offers many on demand 4k channels and Netflix 4k with a promise of linear broadcasting (live/24 7) programming in the near future. Not sure about Cox.
I think it is worth it mainly because unlike 3D, 4k will eventually catch on and there is enough content (on demand movies, netflix) that will allow you to take advantage of the TV until live programming gets rolled out.

I have the Vizio 70" P Series from two years ago. Its 4k
Its the nicest picture Iv seen and Im not just saying that bc I own it.

Not to mention if you only stream your content (like I do), odds are you have a bandwidth cap. With 4K you'll likely blow through the cap in half the time.

Most ISP's are getting rid of their data caps on their higher tier plans. Mine just did a month ago on the 100Mbps and above plans.

I would consider the 65" P65-C1 by Vizio - just dropped last month. It is $2k, but it is, by far, the most television you can buy for $2k.

Yeah the new P Series are great televisions, future proof as they support both next gen formats HDR and Dolby Vision so whichever one wins the format war you are covered.

I was recently in the market for a 70" tv. I went with the Vizio d70d3 ( LINK). It is definitely not Vizio's nicest TV. It is 1080p. It is full array, but I believe they have reduced the number of active LED zones on this model. The refresh rate is not very good either.
My previous TV (which is still going strong) is a 2009 Panasonic G10 series, which I think was a great TV.
I however am happy about the picture quality of the vizio for the price. Granted, I am yet to watch any fast action sport on it, so come football season, my opinion might change.
The main reason why I did not get a 4K higher quality Vizio model is because I am planning on buying a 70" OLED TV in next 2-3 years. So wanted to go for a decent 70" on the lower side of the price-range for now.

I was - sort of - in this frame of mind. I'm going to pull the trigger on the new P-series Vizio 65" this year because the OLED prices aren't dropping as fast as I expected. If your time window is 3 years, that's probably reasonable. I've already delayed 2 years before this summer.

All I know is my next TV will most likely be a Vizio. Mine has been rock solid and great picture for 3+ years with this year having it on almost 24/7 on the baby first channel
