Employees work phone taken. They think the person who took it may be trying to get his friend that works for AT&T to access it. What steps can be taken to prevent access, locate device and crucify motherfrickers involved?

....did your employee have the feature turned on that allows exactly this ("Find my iPhone")?
if yes -- go to icloud.com and log into the iCloud account and click "Find My iPhone"
if no -- weep for your missing iPhone
also call AT&T and report it as missing so they can block the phone.

Did you check your AT&T account to see if any calls have been made or received since the phone went missing? That's how we found out who stole my wife's iPhone 4 several years ago (it was student where she teaches). Unfortunately, I would think thieves are usually just a little smarter than that, but I could be wrong.

None yet. Not worried about getting phone back. Just protecting info on phone.

Hope your co worker finds their phone, but this reminded me of something that happened at my job several months ago. We were having a morning meeting and it's not uncommon for our employees to have their phones on them or about. Well my co worker starts freaking out because she can't find her phone, so I call it and all of a sudden, this ringing comes from one of our co worker's back pockets. The idiot forgot to silence/turn off the phone before stealing it.
