Need help with what to buy. I am on a budget but also want a nice system. I would like to have at least a two zone system. Will have 6 indoor / in ceiling speakers + 1 sub. I would like to add 2 outdoor speakers (possibly wireless?) thanks. I am tech savy, but not very knowledgeable about home audio.

i was in same boat, for my bang for buck polk audio hands down

i got a JBL subwoofer and it worked great

got everything seperate on amazon and it was awesome. the in ceiling speakers arent bad to install

look up polk audio on amazon, you wont be dissapointed

also take into account size and height of celiings. i put 6.5 inch in my ceilings and it sounded awesome but wish i would have gone 8 inch.

always go bigger.

What kind of budget? $1,000? $2,000?

If you want quality wireless speakers you will have to likely go over your budget.

really the most important thing. I can build you a 100k AV system, but Im guessing this is out of your budget

Six speakers in the theater? It should be seven. Left, center, right, left surround, right surround, left rear, right rear.

Your problem is that to add the two outdoor speakers the receiver needs to assign the left and right rear speakers to the second zone to drive the outdoor pair from the amps. So, you need a 2 channel amp to drive those and you need a receiver with pre outs for the outdoor speakers.

What is your budget? That is going to determine what you can do and at what level you can do it.

From what I've read, for the best sound, you don't want your front speakers to be in-ceiling, especially the center channel. Apparently it will not create the right "sound stage" for surround sound. Outdoor speakers probably don't matter, though.

Pretty much, but most people don't really care and are mainly worried about aesthetics.

reason for all in ceiling? They are not the optimum listening experience.

surround sound is supposed to mimic what you see on TV. So whats straight in front of you, goes through the center, then audio from the right comes from a source directly to the right of the screen, etc... not far out to the right or above. When your audio comes from above and not from the screen, it just doesnt sound correct
