Apparently the Nexus 5x community is having issues with the phones going into a constant boot screen loop. So right now I am looking for a new phone while I await a hopeful refund from LG. Is the Pixel the new hotness for vanilla phones?

I hope this doesn't become a problem, I just got mine.

Check the Nexus 5x reddit, it seems like it happens too much.

Anyone have an opinion on the Asus Zenphone? Seems like a good deal

I'm just waiting for it to happen to me. Really ridiculous that a system update would brick a year old phone.

They are saying it is a hardware issue, for some reason the update may have triggered it. It is really aggravating

Went to best buy earlier today to look at new phones for my wife. Have narrowed it down between the iPhone 7 plus or Google pixel xl. One of the Verizon guys said the pixel is supposed to go on sale next week with a $100 best buy gift card . Problem is they can't keep them in stock. If that is true will probably buy one tomorrow online if I can't get lucky and find one locally.

Can the phone boot into recovery? If so there are tools that will allow you to reinstall Android.

Regardless it's a Google phone (I know LG manufactured it) and Google software update. Bricking a 12 month old phone is absurd.

When mine craps out I want the pixel. But now I worry about it's longevity.

My BIL's Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 9 both bricked during updates. I've been lucky and have two Nexus 7's (2013) that have never had a problem.

Good luck trying to find someone from Google that cares about your problem.

I had saw your post some weeks ago about it.

I updated the phone all the way when I activated it so I'm hoping that means I'm good to go

Geez I'm glad I I didn't buy it. I bought the OnePlus 3 and it has been great so far.

I was willing to do it for Google Fi. I want no commitment/savings/fee avoidance and international data without thinking about it.

Got a trip coming up in July where I get to test it

most are for damn weddings but I harass my big timer wife to take real vacations every now and then. This one is only a week, shoot in and out.

I've had two go into the bootloop. No problem though Google Fi overnighted me a phone both times.

Yeah mine's been restarting on it's own recently. I woke up late the other day because I use it for my alarms and it had restarted and was waiting on my pin...really annoying.

Don't understand how this could be a hardware issue if it started after a software change. Sounds like google is trying to deflect towards LG. Super disappointing and making me rethink getting the pixel.

Google isn't deflecting anything. LG made the phone and therefore all claims go through them. That is unless you have a Google Fi 5X like I do. In that case Google Fi takes care of you 100%.

Good to know. I purchased mine through them while setting up service so this alleviates all my concern. Thanks
