Does anyone have a recommendation for an multi function home printer? I am looking for something that is color capable and that can scan multiple documents through the feeder. I want to stay under 500 if possible and not have to spend a ton for replacement ink/toner.

Thanks

I have an Epson workforce 3640 that has been good. Prints well, semi-fast, scans easily, but ink is expensive. Lasts a while though. You can get the cartridges online for about 1/3 the price. It's just a homeowner model, but I print maybe 50 pages/wk

Second the Brother sentiment. I just bought my second Brother printer in 10 yrs. I was ready for color when needed by wife/kids. Bought the 9130CW as I was watching prices during the "Amazon Day"...Check that line out as they can be had for ~$300. I have it set to scan items to a location on my NAS and print quality is great. Has ADF (auto doc feeder)...I messed up though because I wanted duplex and it does duplex manually, which I didn't read the fine print...

I'll third brother, I'd recommend my model, but it's b&w, however at less than $200 it has been a fantastic purchase

Brother 9130CW. Bought one from Best Buy that turned out to be a lemon. Called Brother and they had a replacement on my front porch in 2 days, been solid ever since. Fast and the document feeder works very well.

Bought a multi function Epson for home and it's garbage. When ink is low, it will not let you print ANYTHING. Even if it's a color that's low and you want to just print black and white. It also leaves streaks on paper. Cleaned print head, changed ink, still streaks. Our office only uses HP's and we have no trouble with them.

I have a small business and bought an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus last year based on the recommendation of Cnet. Does it all.

There may be a newer series but the 8600 series may be what you're looking for.
