I am going to Cabo, Mexico soon and the place we are staying does have Wifi but from the reviews it seems spotty. I would like to have a connection if I need for limited work checking. I noticed T-Mobile has service there. Would getting a hotspot from T-Mobile and a prepaid data plan work? Or is there another good alternative?

Just add an international data plan on your existing plan. cancel it when you get back home.

I heard that T-Mobile now provides US customers service in Canada and Mexico.

I have Cricket and they started offering calls and SMS to and from Mexico included in the plans but not data. They do not offer any international data either. T-Mobile has a 7 day prepaid plan that I think would work. Has anyone tried this outside the US?

AT&T allows you to set up when you will be there and when you will get back to states. They will activate and deactivate for you. I'm sure other providers have similar things.
