Looking at upgrading the from old Denon unit to either the

Marantz SR7008 or Anthem MRX 710

both are same price and features are pretty close..

the Marantz does have 2 more channels than anthem , and that's honesty only real difference I could find..

Just wondering if any of you guys run one of these unit or something similar.

I've always been a fan of Audyssey so I say Marantz

good point.. I believe anthem uses their own proprietary tech that's similar just not sure how capable it is..

I'm sure it would be fine, but you're right something that hasn't let you down in the past is a plus

A 9.2 channel receiver? I can't even imagine wanting that.

Why not look at a surround sound processor along with a multichannel power amp.

A 9.2?

I can run 3 zones with it, so I'd add speakers in kitchen and on patio.. Something I'd planned on doing anyway..

Why not look at a better brand like Rotel and get a surround sound processor along with a multichannel power amp.

Living room is only 20x23 ,figured a decent AVR would work fine..

I'd think an Arcam rig or NAD would sound better as well.

Arcam can be pricey and I've never had a look at NAD products before..

Both good products. I used to be an Anthem dealer and still have a couple of their amps in my theater. Very good stuff.

I would wait until Dolby Atmos receivers come out in 2 months. Plus they will be HDMI 2.0.

I don't have Atmos enable speakers in order to get full benefit.. So that's not really a problem.

I am but I do the residential stuff more on the side now. My primary business is data cabling with some conference room stuff thrown in. I only do residential for past customers and referrals.

Gotcha... Good to know... Yeah this is kind of a budding hobby for me that started when I bought my first big screen 10 years ago.. They threw in sony dream system, nothing special 5 sat w/ sub.. I was hooked, and have been slowly upgrading things here and there..

Next purchase after AVR is probably going to be an oppo 105D player..

and I've been trying to convince the wife to let me replace the my Klipsch towers and center
