Ive searched the webs and don't see much that can point me to a good place. I know Kadairs was doing it but I think I read where they don't any more. Tia

Ain't gonna happen in Baton Rouge. Your best bet if you want it done right is to send it off to an authorized Nikon factory repair shop. You should be able to find that info online. Google is your friend.

Kadairs closed down a couple of years ago.

Lakeside Camera and Imaging on Severn in Metairie may be your ticket.

Nikon has clamped down on "shade-tree" repair shops - cut off access to parts.

The VR went out on my Nikon 70-200/2.8. Ken Rockwell recommended a guy by the name of Berrie Smith. I called Berrie - he couldn't do it anymore. He referred me to these guys..... they did a nice job.

On a more practical note - unless you're sentimentally attached to the D90, you might consider just getting a new or slightly used full-frame body, considering what the repair will cost you. Pretty much no way around some serious $$ for the repair. Prepare for sticker shock.

^This. You can probably pick up a used d90 body or a d5100 body for a couple hundred bucks.

I could probably order the parts and fix it myself really. The flap that opens where the battery goes snapped off.

Also have a lens that broke.

HIJACK...

I have a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 that has shite the bed. Auto focus is unreliable at best and shite at worst. Especially in low light. It's probably my fault because it got pretty damp in Tuscaloosa for the LSU game last year. It really broke down in the middle of a wedding I was shooting. It's my workhorse lens.

I wonder if I should just buy a new one (The new equivalent Sigma or Tamron is about $420) or get this one fixed.

Opinions?

I'll have to get the number off it but it fell off my desk while extended and jammed it in breaking something so now it's crooked and can't zoom in or out
